Weird to hear.....
This story aired last night and I was surprised to hear the name again. When we moved into our house just over 9 years ago I asked about it's history and was told about how it was build from a hotel that burned in the 40's. As we looked at the house we noticed lots of bricks that still had ash on them and that the beams in the basement that were part of the structure were really big. The floor joist are 4" x 12 "x 24' long. As we have remodeled thru the years we found that all the studs are 12" on center and are the solid oak true 2x4's and so on.
It's weird to know your house was built from tragedy but the stigma is now being lifted by the rebuild. http://www.11alive.com/video/player....4901&aid=81247

We drove by the hotel a few times and never thought much about it. Now it's a brand new place. I had forgetten about it and it's kind of creepy but the orginal owner knew the owner of the hotel and bought the useable building materials. Needless to say our house is built to last and is virtually sounds proff on top of it. The only thing we don't have that was original to the house is the fireplace pot that hangs inside. The hanger is there but noone was able to tell us where it went. Our fireplace is so big the you can easily fit inside of it.
