What makes em bleach as you said ? Lack of light ? Flow ? I have it on the sand bed of my 210 and I have 250 watt DE phoenix 14k's Should start coloring back up soon I'd imagine right ? Or is that a slow process ? Glad to hear it looks ok other then the bleaching. I wanna see this baby thrive again!!!

your lighting is more than sufficient for a gigas, he should color back up but it can take some time.
try to take a pic from above with the pumps off.

when I say it looks stressed I am refering to the fact that the mantle looks cloudy rather than shiny and a little pinched in. Make sure your ca and alk are proper. It might just be adjusting to your tank. I assume that you have other clams that are healthy and growing?

I will try to get a top down pic, I should be able to pull that off.
I figured my lighting was enough, but with the 210 being a lil deeper, I wasnt positive... I have a small gigas that is thriving!!! The gigas above in the pics has been in my tank for 3 days, I just wanna make sure the majority thinks as I do, that I can have it thriving again in some time...

that should be plenty of light. They really don't need all that much.

How's that Why is its mouth so wide open? Is that a sign of stress? The clam looks ALOT better then it did when I got it. I can say that much for it.

i was looking back at your first pic and then something caught my eye in this last one.....
the mantle on the lower right side is pulling in. what are those white things on the edge of the shell??? have you checked him for pyramid snails??

I will check tommorow again for sure and post back here. maybe even try a close up shot of that area. But the first time I looked, there was nothing to be eery of, I looked around the foot hole, and it was clean.

the best time to look for pyrams is and hour or two after lights out, they are nocturnal.

weird...the mantle is pulled in at that same spot in all of your pics........
I don't understand why featherdusters would be growing on the inside of the shell though? That's a new one.

you should get rid of the dusters ( just the ones on the shell ), they will prevent the clam from opening all the way which is a waste of energy and stressful on the clam.
the mantle should recover, it looks white on the edge there. which could already be new tissue growth, if it is attracting any members of the CUC then it is probably still damaged tissue.

Nice T.Gigas. How big is it? Be careful with the edge of that shell. It can get razor sharp. If you cut your finger the sharks will get you

The edges of mantle looked slightly pinched but that may be due to flash. Coloration looks pretty healthy and will color up with time. It will grow fast under the right light so watch out! My gigas is now well over a foot long and getting very heavy!! Also, as another pointed out, the calcium and alkalinity levels are key to ensuring coloration and overall health.
