6 Line Wrasse
Has anyone kept more than one six line wrasse?
--in other words, is it ok to have 2 six line wrasse in a 75 gallon reef tank?? I have read that they are really aggressive towards other fish but not sure about their own. Any info would be great... thanks. |

I have had a six line in with 3 other kinds of fish and have had no problem with it being aggressive at all....I would just put one of them in the tank because they are def. nice fish to have...

I had one in our 72 gal. as he grew, he started to get aggressive. It took me days to catch him.

I have one in a 375 and he is not aggressive at all. He only showed a little aggression when I added another wrasse, but only for a day. I moved him from a 55 to is new home this summer. He was fine in the 55 as well. However, many people have told me they can become quite mean. I might find out soon as I plan on adding 4-5 more wrasses shortly.

I have heard that you shouldn't keep two in a tank. But, like the tangs, if you keep 3 or more it should be okay. And Lucky hit it on the head. I too had a problem after about 8 months of having him in my tank he started to pick on other fish. And forget about adding new fish unless they are twice his size. He just killed them. But, I have to say that I never had a bristle worm problem when I had him. And if you have shrimp, they better be huge. You will know when he is mad too, his whole body will turn bright red and his stripes will just about go away till he calms down.

I would definitely not do it. Mine is so aggressive it kills many new fish I put into the tank (even blue damsels). I got a yellow wrasse one time, and it was chasing it around the tank and the yellow wrasse had to seek safety in the overflow repeaditly. Unless they are kept in groups I would not do it, 2 would probrobly not work.

it was an assasin of any new wrasse that came in to my 100gal and any type of fish that resembled a wrasse.

Mine was very nasty. It would not only chase a fish it would drive it out of the water and just keep going after it untill it was beaten down so badly it was an easy catch for my net. My guess is if you put two sixlines in your tank,you will have one sixline in a very short time.

Well, i think i am going to hold off on adding another six line wrasse. i would like to add some chromis as well but not sure if they will be safe. im thinking of adding about 4 of them. Do you guys think its a good idea since my wrasse is still not full grown yet?

If you mean the blue green chromis(chromis veridis) I don't know if your six line will go after them or not. They do, however , have a tendency to pick each other off. In a 75g you might be ok.

Yes, i do mean green chromis. Well im going to go ahead with the green chomis and hope for the best.
