Please help i.d. these.
I won't be able to provide a pic of these tiny creatures as they move way too fast. They were only visible for about 3 seconds.
I picked up a small piece of LR and saw 3 or 4 of these creatures scurry around and then dart off into near by crevices. They're a grayish color like the LR and they have no markings or antennas that I could see. They're round/oval shaped, basically flat and about 1/4" in diameter. I don't think they're harmful but would like to know what they are. Any ideas? Thanks. |

They could be small pods, or even Mysis shrimp.

Sound like pods to me a very good thing!

If they don't have any antennas, flat, and small....My guess would be flat worms which are bad.

Thank you all for your advice and the link, which was informative.
I'm still unsure exactly which of the many types of Isopods I have. I don't think they're the parasite type because I don't see any attached to my fish. They're always in the same area of the same rock. When I lift up the small coral they're under, they vanish like cockroaches. Do you think I should remove the rock they seem to be hiding in and soak it in R/O? |

I wouldn't. I doubt they are harming anything other than some detritus and maybe algae!
