Car decision

I am thinking about buying a new car. I need one that gets good gas mileage. Most of my daily miles are hwy miles. I am considering a Mini Cooper. Does anybody have a Mini? If so, do you like it?

Thanks,
MLT

What about a Honda Civic. Great gas mileage and very easy to drive. If you want something sporty check out the Civic SI.

I rode in a mini while I was in Cali, first time I'd even seen one. Can't say much about the actual car but I was kinda impressed. For being such a little thing it had more space inside than you would think.

Fortunately I didn't have to sit in the back seat though, big guys like me don't fit in seats like that .

I would go with the Mini. I've driven and ridden in a few of them over the last several years since they've been out and they really are a good car. I would go for the turbo personally, but that will pull your gas mileage down a bit.

One piece of advice though is don't go for the yellow Mini. My fiance just had one in his shop that he was fixing, and it took the painters 3 days to be able to match the colour properly. Using the actual paint code for the car yielded a yellow that wasn't quite right.

Sounds like cargo space isn't an issue.

How about the new Koenigsegg CCR... saw it being test driven on the BBC over the weekend. Apparently it performs better than the new Lotus. Sounded a lot louder too

Porshe is ok, but I really have gotten turned away by their designs the last 20 years or so. They really need to update the way their cars look because they really havn't changed that much over the years. I would like their new 4-wheel drive vehicle if it didn't look so terrible. The BBC show I was watching was test driving it the other day. It really is an all-terrain vehicle... the funniest part is that it weighs 2500lbs and can do 0-60 is 4.79 seconds. They took it off roading on a well known dirt track in England and were racing a sky-diver to the finish. The sky-diver won, but not by much.

The mini is a nice handling, fun car. Make sure that you test drive a S2000. Also make sure that you get it wide open with the RPMs up over 6,000 on said test drive.

VW golf TDI would be my first choice for a Daily driver.

40/50 mpg and much more fun than a hybrid.

I have a Golf now and while I would love to get another one, there is more bang for you buck (in my mind) in a mini.

thought about the mini, but four doors is better for carseat stuff so i went with the mazda3 5-door. zippy, roomy, "practical but fun!"

ultimately whats your price range is the best quesiton here....thought about a civic hybrid they dont look like total garbage and get the perks of a hybrid car.....personally i drive a RSX-S i would suggest against that between acura not helping me with problems like burning oil and what not....stay away from acura

I would not go with the civic hybrid. My best friend has one... well actually 3 of them, and she ended up getting rid of it and bought a Vibe.

Her chief complaint with it was always that if she was stuck sitting at a stop light, the engine would shut down to save gas, and in turn she would have NO HEAT in the middle of winter. Not to mention she's an electronics geek, so trying to find someone to change out her head unit etc... is hell.

No comparison between the civic gas mileage and the mazda3 gas mileage. Or so I've heard from a Mazda3 owner.

I drive a Protege5 and it gets pretty lousy gas mileage considering it's size and engine.
