New tank search

I am searching for a tank. It will be used as a room divider veiwed from 3 sides. The "ideal" size would be 84" long 24" wide by 30" tall.
Anything around this size would be considered.

Thank you!

The tank at Wet Pets is 60" x 30" x 24" and weighs in at a beautiful 185 gallons.

John you may be able to talk to steve aboutt special ordering a perfecto. That is actually there new standard 265g tank! The only thing they would have to do is move the overflow from the corner to wherever you specify. HTH's. BTW I have a perfecto and and very happy with it!

Steve's Wet Pets 185g

I agree with the other posters. If I were buying a new tank this one would be at the top of my list. It is very wide and has great aquascaping possibilities. I know you were looking for a 84" but I would at least take a look at this one, it's a very nice tank.

Bad part of the 185g is the overflows in the corner. For a 3-sided view that wouldn't be too appealing. I am sure he could get deep sea to custom build on though. If I had the money that's what I would have went with! That size would probably run at least $2500.

We've got one of the 185s in also, gorgeous tank! I'm wanting to order one w/ end overflows, don't yet know the upcharge from Deep Sea for that though.

deep sea quoted me for a 72x36x30 at 5500 dollars and 350 for shipping. I will buy acrylic again before i pay that much for a iron glass box

That's because yours included a stainless steel top frame instead of a glass center brace. A 60x30x24 (the 185) is more like $1000.

I hope thats some really really nice steel. Do you honestly think that justifies 4500 dollars? I do know why it is more, alot more. It is because of the price of the glass in that thickness and the amout of material. But really 4500 dollar steel brace, who are you kidding?

Hello
I have the perfecto that you are talking about the 265 and that is how it looks. I have only had it about 5 months so it is not for sale. I would buy perfecto again if I have the chance.
Good luck with the search.

I will go acrylic again depending on the cicumstances (like how easy it is to get into the tank for cleaning and such) I have got several quotes from aquarium makers around the country for the same demensions for around the 2000 range for glass/1800 for acrylic. All I was responding was that the above post basically said that the quote i recieved was based on a stainless steel frame. Which is totally not true, the quote was given high because its a custom job, and very odd shaped cuttings of raw materials. Just thought if someone was looking for a new tank, and a specific brand name was mentioned. Then anyone who had input on the brand name should respond.

Or do i have this backwards???

Happysak, yes i did, not by much. But i had alot of custom CNC work on my tank. Along with a solid black back.

PS, black acrylic is expensive

Glad to see you can keep it civil. Since I'm not the one who quoted your tank, I can't speak for the specifics. Yes, I know the upgrade from glass center brace to the stainless frame (can't remember the type of steel, but it's the true marine grade, and yes, it is very expensive) is steep. I also believe your pricing included the stand, but I could be mistaken.
I also know that Deep Sea has no other option for his tanks over 250 gallons for quality reasons. Dan wants to do it right.
I realize your quote was high, but that's for a quality product from an independent shop that doesn't cut corners. If you choose not to buy from them, no sweat to anyone here. However, it seems that in any thread that mentions Deep Sea, you've got this to copy & paste into it;

which is out of context for the majority of their tanks. In a time when most brands are part of one of two giant monopolies, it's places like Deep Sea, doing it right, that will keep this hobby alive.

Anyways, I'm done.

you are saying that if i bought a tank from http://www.miraclesaquariums.com/ who did quote the same tank with a starphire panel for almost 3000 less is not quality work? Again, wasnt trying to discredit them in any way. I honestly dont know anyone who would pay that much more just because he builds tanks the way oceanic used to (with the exception to glass lined overflows). No offense, but i think trying to justify that price difference is pointless.

This is going to have to be one of those agree to disagree things.

I know nothing of Miracles, so I can't comment. Yes, I think your particular quote was high. We regularly move 90 - 215 Deep Sea tanks at prices comparable to Oceanic and quality above & beyond. I can agree to disagree though.
