Steve is always looking for nice and rare corals. Send him an email and pics. He may make your coral the next LE.

He is traveling a lot (Coralfarmers market, etc.) My name came up for a frag in October and I didn't hear anything, so I started sending emails....

There's two problems. First is that the website has two different email addresses and one of them is not good anymore (the ISPwest one is defunct). The other is that I don't think Steve checks his emails very often. I didn't get responses to my emails until I followed up with a voice mail. Then I would get a reply email the next day or so.

So I did receive my frag.

I'll be honest, it doesn't look good. If I had seen a pic of it before I bought it, I may have backed out.

It is 100% brown. It is the Mike Paletta Turquoise Lovelli. Steve sent me a tracking number and at the same time told me that this frag "has not colored up completely" and that I should gradually move it into higher lighting. He said it would color up the best "under intense illumination." But he didn't say if that meant 400watt halides or not. (I have 250 watt 10K's). He did say that they had the frag under "moderate illumination," whatever that means.

I'm a bit disappointed and reminding myself to ask for pics before committing to frag purchases in the future. But, at the same time I am curious to see if I can bring it around, you know?

CanaryGirl, Give that Paletta A lovelli time...I have it from Steve and it took a while to color up but it is a sweet turquoise wiht the nicest turquoise polyps I have ever seen. It encrusted for quite a while and then threw up branches and grows very nicely, all very colorful .

I was in his list for a coral in Febuary but never heard anything and I didn't pursue it because I decided I didn't really want the coral anyways. Steve has always gotten back to me very quickly when I have called him, this might be the best way to go.

Steve does not charge you until he send out the frag. You have to some how contact ( calling is best) him 1-2 months before your reservation month so he can start to prep the frag for you. Sometimes the mother colony does not grow as expected and he will let you know. A lot of people do not follow up and he will put that months frag up for sell on the auction site or to other buyers. Steve is very honest about the color of his corals. When the frag is brown out, he will let you know and then you can make your decision to get it or not.
Over all, I am very happy with corals from Steve.

Oh, goody. Thanks for telling me this, Eric. I'll keep my hopes up.
