175w Metal Halide Bulbs

I just bought 2 XM 175watt Metal Halide bulbs. I was just wondering what your guys opinion was on them. I heard that they are not very good for growing corals and stuff.

The tank I have them on is a 40 breeder. Most of my tank is lps and softies.

A 40 Breeder is a low tank...It should be fine.

That's about 8.75 watts per gallon, how much more then that
do you really think you need?

Wow! JC VT that tank is awsome.

Roncgizom: I didn't say I wanted brighter lights. I just wanted to make sure those lights were good enough to have good coral growth. Thanks though.

I did not care for xm's (20k) . I have 2 175 over a 30 breeder. I have also used hammilton 14k (no par). I just ordered aqualine ab 10k's because they are par hogs on my ballast, the hammies arent cutting it even tho they are a nice color.

Ya I don't know about these XMs bulbs. But I spent 108 bucks on them so I'm going to give them a shot.

Oh, Sorry I misunderstood...

Btw, a buddy of mine has a coral farm, 3000 gallons of prop tanks
I know he uses XM 10k's (250w) if this helps some.
