cypraea cinerea gmelin (grey cowrie) reef safe?
Can anyone tell me if this cowrie is reef safe? I did a quick search and found contradicting info on their diet. Some sites listed sponge while some said algae. I would love to be able to add one to my aquarium.

It should eat sponges, algae, and other microorganisms that it scrapes off the rocks. I never kept that species, but it doesn't get large enough to be a bulldozer, and I doubt it would eat anything you'd find objectionable.

If you're looking for a cool cowrie that isn't too intrusive and is reef safe I've had luck with what my LFS calls money cowries. They look so great at night cruising around being all hairy and stuff They seem to take to eating film algae and sometiems i find them grazing along my rockwork as well.
Wouldn't call them part of my cleanup crew, more of an aesthetic addition
