H Crispa Full Tank Shot today.

Sorry, I've been quiet lately!
Here's a piccie of how my H Crispa is doing.
She's taking over my 120! My percs have successfully ignored her for nearly a year now. I'm going to have to send them to live in the 30 and pick up a pair of pink skunks. It's a shame for such a nice nem to go unhosted.

It's a shame that I live so close to Rods and have never been there!
I actually don't want another pair of percs, even if they are onyx's, I'd prefer to have a different kind of clown rather than two tanks with similar clowns.
I'm still making my final decision on clownfish, but am definitely leaning heavily towards the pink skunks, as I think they'd be very attractive in my tank and you don't see them that often.

percs...occelaris, whatever they are, they're pretty!
They've actually got nine dorsal spines so I believe that makes them true percs.

Of course I do!
Sorry it's a little blurry, but it's the clearest one I have that has a good enough focus on the fins.
This picture is about 1 year and 2 months old, and this is the larger of the two. She's developed a darker coloration now, especially over her upper portion.

GSMguy - looking very closely, I see that there are indeed 10 spines, which still makes it a perc. 11 spines would make it an ocellaris.

55semireef - The nem lives under a pretty high flow, just out of sight is a powerhead that blows across the front of the tank at 1,200 gallons per hour and there's another one at the back of the tank that is equal to that, and that's in addition to the normal flow that comes out of the sump through the main pump.
Keeps the nem happy and the tank nice and clean!

Wow, that is a lot of flow! I can't wait to setup my Crispa cube. Should be pretty sweet. I was just wondering how much flow you had so I could a good idea of how much I should put in mine. Although I do remember you saying that the rockwork has a lot to do with it also.

Actually, with 10 spines it could be either Percula or Ocellaris...either of the two can have 10.

However, the eye makes me think ocellaris, and AFAIK there are no known sources/varieties of percula that melanize in that manner.

i counted 11 spines . for purpose of a spine count comparison go to http://www.nhm.ku.edu/inverts/ebooks/ch2.html#ocell and click on the pic. to enlarge it .

would be very unusual for two true perculas not to host your anemone as h. crispa is a natural host .

you wont have that problem with a. perideraion , which although h. chrispa is the least often anemone hosted in the wild , it's still a natural host . i highly rec. tank raised , petco stores get ora farm clowns on a regular basis . i for one like the head and curvilinear body shape of skunks much better than true and false perc's whose graphic colors aren't enough for me to get past their pointy boxy heads .

I have a pair of percs with the exact same coloration.... the rate of change from black outline to the orange body also has to do with the region the percs are from. Those from the Solomon Island tend to have more black, etc.

I've been told that Percs (true percs) have the lighter eyes and a pretty orange ring around the eye, and Oscellaris (false percs) have darker eyes with no ring.
I'd guess you have Oscellaris.
Just my 2cents.
