Vlamingi needs new home

When I got him 3 years ago he was 3" and has grown to 10" in my 150 reef. He is my favorite fish, tame(will roll over so I can pet him), will eat from my hand and is beautiful. I paid 75.00 for him and will sell for the same only if he goes into a tank at least 300 gal. It will hurt to let him go but want him to have more room to grow and swim. I know that some of you have larger tanks and would be a great addition to any large tank.

Steve,

Sorry to hear that you're getting rid of him. He is a big beautiful beast though. I'm sure he'll go to a great home, considering all the people in this club who have >300gallon tanks.

Definitely a beautiful docile fish, you just have to have the room for him.

Steve, I would take him but he probably is to big for my 18 gallon nano. Can he swim vertically? Ha

Happy new Year,

Rich

haha. Good Luck - they are awesome fish, and watching them mature is quiet spectacular.

I bought mine about 6-8 months ago at about 1.5", he is not about 7 1/2" - 8" ... about a month ago he started to develop somewhat of a hump on his forehead ... we will see how long it will take for him to change colors & fully mature.

Do you have pictures of yours by any chance?

Does yours rule the tank? Mine is 2nd largest after the female Crosshatch trigger - but he is king of the tank.

Rogger...I will post a pix only if you take him ...I will post a pix of him.

Wizsmaster....He does't rule the tank, just eats most of the food.

Believe me I would love to take him but I just went trough a severe case of marine velvet in my tank that wiped out almost all my fishes, some of them had been with me for over 5 years, right now the only thing left in the tank are 4 yellow coris wrasses, 2 Fairy wrasses, 1 magnificent fox face,1 Christmas wrasse, and the lion fish, They all seem fine now except for the lion fish, unfortunately he is cooper intolerant so I can only wait till he get out of it on his own, I have been trying to give him some of my food, but he is not eating it, I might have to get my hands in the tank and force feed him but as you can imagine this is risky as well. For now it is just a a matter of waiting and not introducing anything for a few weeks.

Roger..Sorry for your loss of fish. I would really be careful trying to force feed the Lion and hope he starts to eat. If you are still interested in the Vlamingi later on LMK. After I find a home for him, I have to move my tank to the living room and go smaller. I will be breaking down my 150 reef, selling all livestock, corals and live rock including tank, stand and canopy. I am keeping all my equipment. I'm going to set up a small holding tank to hold my prize corals and fish until I decide what size and where the new tank will go.
