How frag one polyp?

I have a colony of green and purples that ran together and there is one polyp that is rainbow in the middle how can i get it out so I can have more like it. When I take the rock out its impossible to see.

You could try to take a scale pic of it and map it. Still risky though.

If you really want it and are willing to sacrifice a few of the other polyp morph you could kill a small area around it with a knife or screwdriver while in tank. (Ive' done this and it's also still risky)
You'll end up with an empty ring around it and you can then easily identify it when you take it out.

I have gotten single polyps out by using a pair of cuticle scissors, dig down as far into the mat as you can, and snip it off. then just re-glue that polyp where you want it.. should be ok.. may lose a polyp around the cut though...

I'd say wait until it grows more, or cut the rock in half so you can get that polyp in the middle closer to the edge, you might lose it entirely if you try and take it off the rock on its own

Hey miguel it one of the zoo rocks that I got from you a couple of months ago. Matt there is now way i would be able to tell where it is to cut it. Cutting it in half may work since there is no room for it to multiply to grow more..

John if I kill the other poylps and leave it there to grow out a little more what be the chance of infection from the dying poylps next to it? I have a syringe that i was going to use with for making my sump that I could maybe zap them with joes juice since it much smaller opening.

nice, glad to hear there were some cool hitchhikers

there would be a chance of an infection from killing the polyps around it, as well as a good chance of getting joe's juice on it if you're nuking the polyps in the surrounding area, my suggestion would be to cut the rock in half, then mark where the polyp is, and physically scrape off the polyps around it very carefully with an exacto knive, you can even dig under them with an exacto, and frag off the rainbow polyp and some polyps around it, that should make it easier to work with
