Great stuff Greg...The tight framing is xlnt and there are some interesting angles. # 09-512 and 69-512 are particularly different and very interesting.

What camera, settings, light system, ect... details man, details!

Thanks!

Camera is an Oly C-5050 in an Oly housing.

Settings....Different for every shot. I don't include exif data when I resize for the web, so that doesn't help.

Lighting.....The sun. I don't have a strobe yet and only one picture in all of these was with the internal flash enabled. That was the shot of the saddled blenny - he was under a rock overhang very dark.

My technique relies heavily on taking zillions of pictures and throwing out 99% of them.

I recently read that Olympus makes housing for all of their digital line... What made you decide on the C-5050?
(I'm beginning to think I may be in the market for a camera!

Greg, are those patch reefs shallow enough for snorkeling?

I owned a C-3000 which took amazing pictures (better than the 5050 in some respects). The 5050 has raw format which the 3000 didn't and an ultra-macro mode which is very good.

Obi-dad. All of these pictures where taken in < 21 feet of water. The majority around 10 feet.

These pictures are not exceptional quality, but they are of a very rare species that is not well documented. Note the shape of the tail and the extra caudal fin...

Greg...
Great shot. Unique tail filament gives away Fistularia tabacaria, "Blue Spotted Cornetfish" of family Fistulariidae.

Do any of you guys know of any shore dives or snorkeling spots in the upper or middle keys? Want to take a quick trip down there and don't want to have to plan around dive or snorkel boats...

If anyone knows of spots in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale area that would be appreciated too...

Thanks

OMG. I'm back in the keys and had the most fabulous day diving ever. I got some pictures and some movies of something I didn't even realize existed in the Atlantic. I'm gonna leave you hanging until I have time to upload the pics.

These pictures are terrific Greg! Many of them could have been taken here in the Bahamas - seems the fish/reefs are similar. You really inspire me to learn to scuba and to get an underwater housing for my Nikon...or maybe even a new camera! Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to seeing the next batch!

Okay, these images haven't been "prettified" yet, but they'll give you the idea until I get back home and can do them right. Also, no movies over this connection, and they are the best part by far.

I just thought this was a cool picture:

And that's enough teasing. Here's the thing that still blows my mind. There was a pair of them and I got about 500 meg of still and movies of them.
