you have a 250W halide over a 5.5G? That is way, way over kill i would go any higher than a 70W halide on that, if even that.

I agree, way to much light.
If you stick with it I'd put it up 2"+ or your water might start to boil

I was just considering it, but hadn't purchased.
It was a good deal, so wanted some opinions, I figured most would think it was overkill, but if you mount it higher I think it would even out. Instead I just built a stand last night for my 70w halide to mount to, so that is what I plan on using
