Oceanic Tech Tank Owners Thread

This thread is for Oceanic Tech Tank owners to post their setups....

Here is my 120g Tech Tank with a 400w Solaris unit on top.
I still need to purchase the power heads, return pump, and calc reactor, but it's coming along nicely.

My equipment list includes:
Tech Series Stand
2 Vortech MP40s
2 Tunze 6045 Nano streams
AquaC EV-180
Eheim 1262
Korallin C-1502 Calc Reactor
SpectraPure MaxCap 90
55g plastic drum for RODI storage

Here are some pics of my setup. The top 3 are with the Solaris unit, and are the latest pics. I also hung all the cabinets in the laundry room, and joined the counter top. I still need to cut the hole for the sink and install my RODI unit.

Enjoy.

I've been trying to get information on these tanks to no avail. My LFS can't either. They are great looking tanks.

I've had the best luck by contacting Oceanic directly. Some of the LFS stores have been left in the dark, as far as what's available.

$1100.00 for that set-up doesn't seem bad. My local store told me $1600.00 for tank and stand. And she wonders why I buy on-line

I have submitted requests for a catalogue to their web site twice now, without any response.

I'm waiting to see all of the rest of the owner's pics!!

I'd think for what they charge for their tanks they could put a little money into that joke they call a website and promoting these tanks to the stores that carry their tanks.

Every LFS I've been to has been clueless about them.

I gave up and found a used 70show and stand.

Gorgeous setup, and I really like the way you set it up in the room. Should give you something nice to view when the commercials are on.

BTW- nice kitchen, dude.

That web site is a BIG joke...which is amazing in this day and age. It took me several tries before I could even find a combination, using several browsers on several machines, through which I could even get to their catalogue request page. I'm sure the reason I have yet to receive one is that their web page never got the request through. If you look the page title is even "Maintenance 11-new".

Sorry, didin't mean to hijack Larry's thread...back to the pics please

OK, here's mine. It's a work in progress. 120g Tech tank with homemade stand. Almost ready to stain it and move it in the house. The pictured tank actually has been replaced; the original had a scratch on it and my LFS was kind enough to replace it. The new one has black trim, instead of the stainless. Not gonna see the trim anyway though.

and the stand...

might not look it, but there is a ton of work left to do.

Will try to get a better pic of the new tank for ya. Cheers!!

eederise - That is an awesome stand. I can't wait to see how your tank turns out.

JackRent - I was quoted something similar as well. Larry's LFS must really like him.

I appreciate the comment Chem-E. Can't take any credit on the design though. I "borrowed" the ideas from Marino, here's his stand build thread LINK

my LFS told me the price was going up back in jan, so I pulled the trigger on it. I got lucky and got a great price on the tank and stand. I also got my 400w solaris for $300 under msrp, with free shipping.

sweet stand and canopy eederise.

Oceanic would be last tank I would ever consider buying.
I have a 110 now , the canopy and stand just has too much particle board.
That suff gets wet and crumbles like toilet paper.
The door hinges screw into the particle board also-the screws are pulling out.

hmm, sorry you had a bad experience. I can't imagine a fish tank stand made of Particle board. Thats just asking for trouble. The tech tank stand is made of MDF, and has a plastic veneer so I don't think it falling apart will be an issue. Plus the have a lifetime warranty. The last oceanic stand I had was made of solid Cherry, and was cabinet grade furniture. 100% better then the cheap pine AGA stands. as far as their tanks, both the 58 and my 120 had amazing seams, were top quality. How old is your 110?

btw with their web site, it's probably managed by AGA. just look at theirs. their product page is for their 2004 product lineup....

I love my Oceanic 120 tech tank and stand. Its my 3rd oceanic tank and the only tank I would concider after owning the first two.Ijust can not see them making a stand for a 110gallon tank out of particle board, and with a lifetime guarenty on the tech series it just shows what quality they are made of...

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1082472&highlight=70+tech+tank

Still finishing up some minor details on the canopy, so i through a light i had laying around on it, just to give you guys an idea of what it is going to look like.

A Tunze 9010 is fits in the first compartment. I do not have pictures with it in though.

This was not the location where it is going.

I will have to look. I am pretty sure the inside height is 28". I had to take the top of the stand off to get my sump in there.
