Hood Height.
Ok so i decided on going with 250W 14K Mh lights. Now my question is...How high do i need to rebuild my hood in order for me to use them safely with a 110 Gal acrylic tank without damaging the tank. I was told by TRUVU, which is the tank i have, that the light should emit no less than 400nm, but how high is safe for the lights?

It'll probably depend on how much cooling you have in your hood. I used to run my 2x250 watt MHs about 6 inches above my acrylic top (top to bulb) but I also had two Icecap fans blowing in the hood right over the pendant lenses - didn't cause any problems (i'd stick my hand in and rest it against the acrylic to spot check the temperature/heat). Some people recommend closer to 10 - 12 inches.
