SunPod Smoking - Too Hot?

A friend of mine just got a 36" 2x250 watt SunPod yesterday. After he got it hooked up and on he notice that the rubber seals around the glass lenses were smoking. He shut it off and called Current USA this morning they said they would send him some new seals, but I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else on here. I'm not sure how new seals are gonna make a difference it seems like it is getting too hot to me, but we'll see.
Thanks for any info.
