corallife-its what my LFS stocks, therefore cheaper to get.
But, it mixes cloudy sometimes, and stinks because of that. BUT, I've gotten a lot of corals to do great, and all anemone's I've had to give away did great-grew too big. Don't know how the numbers come out after being mixed.

Check out this thread. It lists the common salts being used and the three main properties that make the salt better or worse for your situation. If you are only going fish only, then this isnt as much of a concern, but if you are doing a reef then it will help out a lot.

I am assuming this is two of the 5 gallon buckets that were a bad batch. Either way though I am going to probably switch over to the seachem salt to see how it goes.

Forty Fathoms/Crystal Sea bioassay mixture makes 150 gal. [$40.68 shipped]. Mixes easily and trace elements seem spot on. Started using it on recommendation from our old friend Ron S. Used Kent's prior to that. It was fine, but seemed to leave a residue around my mixing buckets. May have been a minor thing, but I love the Crystal Sea

i have been using coralife pro- its cheap and works good- My friend swears by reef crystal, I dont know if I should make the switch.

I use a 50/50 mix of instant ocean and oceanic.

Nope, did that too for a some time - to lower alkalinity of IO.
The salt to use: you will see, what will work for you better. I started with Instant Ocean, came to necessity of raising Ca and Mg in newly prepared water, didn't like it, changed salt. Now Red Sea, but Red Sea Pro or Tropic Marin Pro Reef will be much better (tried the last, and bought the previous). |
