Volunteers needed for Seneca Park

We've got 2 upcoming maintenance trips where we will be trying to get some 'extra' stuff done, and in case you haven't gotten your fill of scraping glass at home, we could use a hand.

Interested parties, please try to attend one of the following:

Sun November 19th: Kevin (8:00am)
Sun November 26th: Guy (8:30am)

We usually meet in the parking lot a few minutes before the appointed time (assuming I'm not late - 50/50-shot).

Thanks.

On average, depending on how long people BS for, only an hour and a half. Guests start showing up around 10, so... there's a bit of a time limit on how long we can work (hence the early start times).
There's a couple of extra things we want to try and get done in the coming weeks, so can use the extra help.
Thanks.

With more than say, 3 people, what does everyone do to help?? I might be interested in the future. I'm going out Saturday night to celebrate my b-day so, I don't think that i will be in tip-top shape sunday morning to help.

LOL! We'll let you clean the skimmer collection cup Sunday morning if you show up, magdelan! J/K!

We've got to step-up our glass-cleaning efforts, it hasn't been getting the attention it should lately, because of a lack of volunteers and a lot of scheduling conflicts (the corraline's taken hold in a few places). Also, due to scratching, the zoo has asked that we not use razor's in the tank anymore - it takes a lot longer when using plastic blades. This week we also have to get the water vessel cleaned up, and start making room for some more containers - some big water changes are in the tank's future, and because it's a public display, that makes it harder on us.
AND... if all that gets done, some of the corals need some pruning.

where do the "pruned" corals go??? Why doesn't the park want razor blades to be used anymore. The tank isn't acrylic is it??

In this instance, likely to the bottom of the rock-stack. There was quite a bit of die-off on the Serioptora not long ago, and we're trying to make that look neat and tidy again. The zoo is very particular, as an accreditted institution, they cannot authorize livestock leaving the premises.

The staff there seems to think, that about the time the new volunteers took over, and started using razors to clean the glass, that some scratches developed.

.... In my 9 years, the only time I've ever scratched any glass while cleaning, was w/ a magnet and some sand, and have never, EVER come close to scratching any of my tanks w/ a blade. Nonetheless, the new scratches did coincide w/ the changes in the way we did the maintenance, and we have complied w/ the zoo's request to no longer regularly clean w/ razors.

Thanks Scott, I'll see you there.

How about 9:00 instead of 8:30?

I must have missed your offer earlier. I'll be there at 9:00 am. If you want to swing by at 9:00 that's fine, if not that's OK too.
