To catch a Sally?

My sally lightfoot has become very aggressive over the last few months. It has snagged and eaten 3 fish. It is time to catch this beast. The sally is about 1.5" (legs not stretched out), and is very fast.

Suggestions on how to trap other than removing all my rock and stiring up my sand.

Thanks

mike...

I know this is going to sound really bad but....

When I tried to get a large emerald crab out of the tank I could not trap it worth anything.

I loured it out into the open and grabbed it. HAHAHA OUCH...... but I got the crab! Unfortunatly I was attacked in the process but luckily it was only a flesh wound.

I would try to set up a trap with a large glass and some food. It works for the most part.

How good are you with spear fishing . I know it sound very mean but it is not that easy to catch a crab from a tank full of LR. Crab has a very strong legs and they can hold on to the rock very well. Many time i try to catch my sally or emerald without trying to harm them and ended up with a wound . Here is what i do... Get a piece of metal approx 2" long (hanger work very well). Attach the piece of metal into a stick (i use a long chop stick cuz i am asian lol). Make sure you attach them well so the metal piece don't come off during the process . Wait for your crab to come out and eat then stab them right on the center of it body (make sure you hold it down) stick your hand inside the aquarium and remove the crab. watch out for the claws.....

I'd suggest a small mayonnaise jar (or equivalent) that the crab can't climb out of (glass, smooth, "shoulder" overhang below the opening...) place something yummy inside and set the jar next to the crab's rock home...invite him to climb in without being able to climb out.

Will emerald crab do the same - eat fish? I'm about to order two with the Reeftopia buy.... (one for the fuge and one for the main tank)

We had an emerald as well. We now are blaming Sally for many of our losses, but can't be sure.

It definitly goes after our Clown, is quite fond of shrimp (living and frozen), and ate our pipefish yesterday.
