SO any ideas as what to use to block them? Do you just break off a pice of the ruler or what?

well i cut it with scissors actually and it looks getting but it does the job till i can cut something black to match the back ground.
On a side note it also seems to help food stay in the display tank when the pump is turned back on allowing the livestock to chase the food a bit and recreate a bit more of a hunt scenario my clown loves chasing the frozen baby brine around after the pump is turned back on.

I got the algea that was too close to the rocks with a paper towel. I also moved the rock farther away from the wall.

My pod turns 1 month today and of course my fire shrimp dies on me!!!
One second its upside down on an overhang i look back and its on its back in the sand.
He didn't;t get very excited about breakfast this morning either so i think he was a bit on he old side. its ok i wouldn't have figured out my PH was at 8.8 with out it dieing and triggering alarms.
thinking i overdosed with purple up and messed my ph up(way out there guess)

I want to block my vents too.

I was thinking that black polystyrene would do the trick.

It comes in 0.25mm to 2mm thickness and 6x12" width/length for around $4.

Evergreen Scale Models makes the black styrene.

Will my toadstool be ok that close to my mushrooms?

Enraged helped me and told me to block the vent to get the surface to skim.
I went to the hardware store and had them cut me a thin piece of acrylic. They only charged me a buck for the whole thing.
It's clear so you can't really see it.

I had to block all the vents except for half of the top part to get it skim and create a waterfall in the back which is what you want.
I had them cut it 4 inches across by 11 1/2 long.
Theres a little room for you to move it up and down to adjust it.

Heres a quick pict. I took to show you.
Thats the top part and it goes down to the bottom.
I can just slide it up and down to adjust it so theres enough water in the back.

Not the greatest pics but here ya go

When you do this the water level will be right at the top in the tank and stay constant like an overflow box.
When it evaporates the level lowers in the sump part not the tank so you have to keep an eye on that.

Thats why you can move it up and down a bit to adjust it so theres enough water in the back/sump.

I'm just a dumb ol girl and proud of myself I figured this out lol but I would'nt have ever thought of it without you telling me enraged to block the vents.
