How fast do they grow?

I have a group of 3 Zoas and after a month or so i saw 2 small buds pop out. They seem to be growing slow. They are in a 2.5 GAL nano with 10 watt 50/50.How long to they take to spread. They are a brown and green in color if that helps.

Its really hard to say how fast any given zoo will grow. All zoos are differant and all tanks are differant. I would say that with only 10 watts of light they are not going to grow very fast!

You should bump that up to the 20W 50/50.

Feeding makes a big differnce in growth...

I have been target feeding them every other day.10 watts isnt much but i thought because they were in a small tank close to the light it would be ok.

Get some type of Pcs at least if your serious about zoos. They arent going to last with only 10 watts

what do you guys feed your zoos? I dose my tank with Chromaplex every other day and also break up frozen Formula One as tiny as possible.

Is there anything else that i could use that would specifically benefit my zoanthids?

thx in advance.

I feed the tank cyclopeeze, not sure if my zoos get any or not.

10 watts is pretty low. I had my zoos under 6w a few inches from the water in a nano and they eventually closed up. They are now under 40watts and are starting to open more.

To answer the question on growth rate, it is usually slow. Especially with a rock of only 3. I got a frag of 4 zoos in November. After 6 months I am up to 9 on that rock.

On average the last time this questions was posed, most people doubled their numbers every 3 to 4 months.

I feed my tank DT's Oyster eggs and sometimes phytoplankton (which I only got very recently). I could be incorrect, but I believe that most corals are carnivores, not herbivores.
