Manifold question again...
Still trying to figure out my plumbing on my new tank and I read your article about manifolds. It says manifolds need one water input, but will it work with two? I have two overflows on the back of the tank with 1.5" return lines in each. Can I use both to make a manifold with 12 3/4" loc line outlets (4 on the back 4 on the front and two on each side) or should I use just one (un-centered) water input. Tank is a 280 (72x36x25tall) and will have a closed loop with a seq hammerhead on a OM 4way with a 1.5" return in each top corner of the tank. Return pump im thinking about is a blueline 100HD going through a chiller and then to the manifold. What are your thoughts...
Here is the tank... |

I have two pumps and two separate lines feeding my manifold without any problems.

Ahh good to know stevenpro! I will only have one pump but it will go into the manifold in two spots. Probably the two inside holes in those overflows. If there is a nozzle on the manifold close to where the water goes into the manifold....will the pressure be stronger on that one nozzle?

Can I ask, who did you have build your tank?

Steven is correct speed! You can see some pics in my gallery and there is a build up thread in reef discussions.
Yeah I kinda figured once I got the tank I would have some fresh water runs to check things out and adjust then. Maybe one input might be better, then I would defiantly have and extra 1.5" line for something else. Maybe I could have my OM 4 way up there in the canopy making the 4 runs to the top corners shorter. I want to run a pressure rated pump so that should help, a blue line 100HD. Think that should run 10-12 3/4" nozzles? |

So whats the feeling on a barracuda with one line coming up from one overflow. The whole run would be 1.5" and have ten 3/4" loc line outlets. Four on the back, four on the front, and one on each end. There will also be a hammerhead on a OM 4way with a return in each corner maybe. I used the calc on here and it says about 2500gph out of the cuda...so about 250 per loc line. The OM will run 2 outlets at a time so at least 5000 combined gph from that.
I read the thread about the 180 with 10 outlets and the cuda and he said he was disappointed. Was this because he went to 1" for the manifold? I want to stay 1.5" even for the manifold and just use a T thats 1.5 on the sides and 1" on the top. Then use a 1" plug that has a 3/4" threaded for the loc line to screw into.
