John,

are you talking about resizing?

if you run Windows XP there is a free powertool for resizing pics. You simply right click and the option appears and it gives you various choices and a custom mode.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp

that's the link.

hi John-
sorry it's taken me so long to answer this- my desktop computer is kaput
anyhow- i have photoshop and so haven't ever looked to see what's out there. i do use a program called Irfanview to scan thru my picture folders and i see that it does have a pretty in depth resize/resample options page. i'd say it's worth giving a try:
http://www.irfanview.com/
6-line- that is a very cool feature i didn't know about- thanks!
greg

Thanks Greg. I'm looking for recommendations for people who email me looking for a way to resize their pictures. I will add that link to the top of the gallery pages.

Greg, please be sure to start uploading your pictures to the new photo gallery

I use Ulead Smart Saver Pro. IMO it is the best Image Optimization tool out there! I have been using it for over 5 years now. I cost 60 bucks but if you’re into photography and you have a web site it is well worth it! There is a trial version that lasts for 15 days. here's a link to it if you want to try it out... http://www.ulead.com/ssp/trial.htm

HTH

Here is a pic that is in my gallery here on RC. I optimized with smart saver pro. The original was over 225kb after optimizing it was only 49kb. It looks great, dont it!?!

Ummm its not the same type of software.
Photo Explorer is just a program to look at and organize your photos and digital files.
Smart Saver is just an image optomizing program.

image resizing

I am sorry, I must really be a dope when it comes to computers...I cannot seem to get you image resizing programs down at all. I can download them, but then I either can't find 'em or I can't get the "right click" option to happen.

Any help would be appreciated

What kind of computer are you using? What web browser are you using?

Here's a little tutorial on using IrfranView to resize an image and posting it in a RC thread:

I recommend Irfanview: http://www.irfanview.com - it's free and easy, and you can resize and/or compress your photos.

Are you using Internet Explorer? When you save - try saving it to your desktop - here's an icon on the left of the "Save" dialogue box. That way it will be easy to find it - just look on the desktop once your download completes, then double click the icon.
