Feeding
Many animals have specific dietary requirements, so planning ahead can be critical! For example, some animals require live food, and others do best with less aggressive tankmates. Choosing the stocking list carefully is the first step in making sure every animal gets fed.
When feeding fish, a general guideline is that any food added to the tank should be consumed within 5 minutes, although some slow-feeding fish (like many mandarin dragonets) are exceptions. In addition, since most of what goes into a fish comes back out, the filtration capacity of a tank creates another, often lower, limit on feeding. Some corals require or benefit from feeding as well. This book is a good place to start for information on that subject. There are a variety of food products on the market as well as DIY recipes. Each has its own benefits and issues. This thread has a lot of information on feeding both corals and fish.
