10G Super Long Calvin style

Thought I'd throw some pics up of a 10G super long that is basically a copy off of Calvin's NTOM. I was so impressed with his design and style I wanted to give it a shot. I obviously could not build it myself so I enlisted the help of Sean at www.sp-aquatics.com.
He really did a great job and there were a couple of small design differences but what a cool tank. I am going to light this thing with a Current 4x55 Watt T5 hood and am going to build a canopy around it to make it a little more eye appealing.
I am also considering a sapphire aquatics skimmer but am not sure if I will have a high enough water level for it. Here are some pics.

Very cool!

Slightly off topci, but where can you get those flow nozzels from?

I mean the black ones that are shown in the display portion of the tank.
Cheers.

this was my favorite build to date. Might have to make one for myself in the new house, would go great on a bar top or somewhere like that.

You need to hurry and get that bad boy running

I can't wait to get this thing up and running. Calvin's design is awesome and I bet you see alot more tanks like this up and running. I plan on mounting it to a wall as well and am going to try and get the canopy made this weekend. The great thing about this tank is that you can put it in a whole bunch of places
I know Calvin makes these and I had a local guy make mine just with for some slight mods. His site is www.sp-aquatics.com and am sure he'd crunch out another.

Worked on the canopy today. Still needs some work but you get the basic idea.

After looking at the tank I decided I wanted something to hide the brackets and make it look just a little more uniform. I am going to run electrical behind the wall to under the "skirt" area where I'll have my RK2 controlling everything.

BTW My 30G cube is in the garage. We moved in November and my wife has "declared there isn't a spot for it in the house" so this is my compromise.

The "skirt area" is hollow underneath and you can easily reach under there to get to the switch. The switches are two ways anyway and we never use them. I am going to do a "distressed black" color to match the decor.

Two things. One, why are you going with so much light on such a shallow tank? I'd be surprised if anything could handle being that close to 4x54w T5s.

Two, I can't believe your wife declared there was no room for your tank! That's such a mean thing to say to put it lightly. I'm glad my gf is supportive of my obsession.

First thanks for the comments. The tank is probably going to just be a mix of softies and LPS. Haven't quite decided.

The tank, I believe, is 10G display and 3 gallon sump so a total of 13 gallons. Check out Calvin's thread, he has he extreme specifics.

I have so much lighting because I say why not. No actually there are two switches that can control the lighting so I am probably going to take 1 of the bulbs out and let it run with 3 x 55W. The fixture does not have individual reflectors so I don't think the lighting will not be all that extreme.

Thirdly for msn711 wait until your girlfriend becomes your wife and "then will you truly understand the full power of the darkside."
