What might be my new favorite...

...coral, has just recovered fully from shipping stress. It's a little early to say it's my favorite, as I still love my Icefire Echinata, but this guy is growing on me.

Think I'm gonna call it the Orenji Danae

Here it is through the glass:

Here it is, top down:

It's the same frag that Maximus got back in October:

http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...e&pagenumber=1

I was able to get it from him before he left the hobby

It's the Orange Danae from The Captive Reef. Unfortunately, it's no longer available.

Well, coral names have gotten a bit too effeminate as of late . Figured this would be a nice change. Just say Orenji Danae like you're Toshiro Mifune, and you'll be a bad@$$

If by chance, you have this coral under 20k or MH plus actinics, PLEASE post a pic. Very interested in seeing how the orange fluoresces.

TIA

That remindes me of the setosa and if it were to try to encrust and branch at the same time............cool piece.

They might be more similar than I think. I'll break a piece off and take a pic of them side by side. I'll cc Eric (ecojam) on it, too. See what he thinks. The Orenji is non-Indo.

Thanks, James!

I knew the difference would be apparent. The setosa just looks so different on FragFarmer and ReefFarmers. Maybe because of the Radiums.

Here another picture of both. Setosa is getting more pink, but the Oranji Danae is just bright metallic orange. High or low it doesn't care.

Maximus left some sweet corals around before he left. I'm still hoping he changes his mind....

I was hoping it was, as I wanted to make the drive out there and talk Ming into selling a chunk of it. But, a friend of mine went out there last weekend and said it definitely isn't the same. The polyps were also brown, too. Probably more like the setosa.

I only got this one piece from your treasure chest, and I'm sure others tote more of your collection from your sell off. However, for me, the Orenji was definitely the Lebron James of that draft. Thanks for saving it for me.

Enjoy the vicarious reefer status, Sang
