meleagris is the most common leopard. I see bipartis all the time. Potters are not as common (even though they are everywhere in the wild) but still obtainable relatively easy..

i see choats on my australian list. i plan on bringing a few in for a client who requested them... which stinks because i know they wont make it... Well i dont "know" just their track record.

the australian supplier said they usually ship well to wholesalers, so im thinking it is the wholesalers who end up killing them or mishandling them. I know i handle fish well, so im giving it a shot...

i bought a pair of Bipartitius about a year ago. Although bought as a pair, they looked the same, and were quite small. In the last 12 months, one has grown more than the other, and morphed into the full male colours ( I haven't seen a pic of a full male in this thread, and can't get a pic of him as he never stops still long enough).

Anyway, this week, they have started mating. Well, what I assume can only be mating. lots of wagging tails and twisitng bodies ( like clowns do) and he is constantly chasing her and following her around.

Interesting to see what happens

I recently purchased a pair of Potters and am having trouble getting them to eat. Part of it is that they are only up for a few hours a day so far, so it is hard to feed when they are out and about.

I am curious what you guys are feeding.

Thanks in advance.

I have found at my work (lfs) as soon as we get in leopards, either species, we see an immediate feeding response from feeding mysis. frozen.

they arent THAT hard to feed...

I feed frozen mysis every day and they are not even interested. They are actively hunting the rocks though. I am not sure what to do. I would have to assume that at some point they will starve. I am extremely hopeful that it does not come to that. I will pick up some blood worms tomorrow and try that.

Ok. Heres mine.

Does anyone know if its a female or male? Its been asked here and ive seen here tanks with multiple wrasses but can they be mixed with other leoperd wrasses. I would be interested in finding this one a mate if I knew what this one was. Thanks.

Try Live Blackworms, and live brine too..

I have had great LUCK with blackworms and not feeding SW fish!

Live brine too!

if one eats, the other usually follows. This happened to me when i was holding 2. 1 started eating, and oddly spit te food in the others face as to say" its ok to eat" lol soon enough the other ate very well. Weird fish! I like the potters i think the best. If you can get an actual male, they are hard to beat look wise...

Well the other one came out today and ate. So hopeful that we are over the hump. I am not sure, but I assume I have a male/female pair as they spend a lot of time together and my understanding is that males would not get along. I will get some pics tomorrow and post them.

2 males wont get along, but 2 females will.

have any pics? males or submales will have much brighter blue dots then a female. A true male looks like this:

http://www.coralreefnetwork.com/sten...asses/deep.htm

scroll down til you see the potters wrasse. the blue one is the actual male. I havn't seen one since i've been here in HI (3.5 years) Most "males" look like the middle pic

here are a few pictures of my Black Leopard wrasse. It came in from Vanuwatu Last week! Its so cute! Its eating like a pig too! Loves Froozen Mysis and the Artic pods. He has gotten in a few leopard wrasses from here and so far they have all eaten froozen or the artic pods within the first 24 hours. I liked it b/c they arent too common! Wish me luck!

here is one in the bag after I got home..

Here in one swimming around the tank. Sorry, the tank is a littel cloudy...

I see some people keeping these with other wrasses. Which other species of wrasses have been good tankmates for those with leopards?

BTW - Nice fish everyone.
