I got my collection cup on correctly. It is now starting to push some darker skimmate up the collection tube. 30 hours into operation. I think I'm going to like this.

cripes this thread is getting ridiculous
is it recommended to run a recirc in sump or external? or is it all fielder's choice? |

Maybe we should request a Coralvue forum.
In general, recirc skimmers are preferable over non-recirc assuming that they are the same size (i.e., 8" recirc should be better than 8" non) However, the difference in performance probably isn't huge. For the price difference, it may be of more benefit to go with a larger in-sump rather than a smaller recirc (meaning NW-200 would probably beat Recirc-150 if you have the room in the sump). |

Could I post in the the Coralvue forum I got a Pacfic Coast Import
The HOT is pretty much a CPR backpak knockoff with a better pump. If you set up a shelf of some sorts and a simple bubble trap there is nothing saying you couldn't use one of the recircs as a HOB skimmer. |

I just got my recirc 150 from aqua cave, but it only came with a picture, no written directions...
Is this normal? I also got one extra onion... My main question is do I have to cut the outlet tubing so it fits? and then do i glue them? Can I submerge the output line into the sump water? |

The extra union is in case you want to hard pipe the water supply, rather than using flexible tubing. The tubing supplied with the skimmer is for the cup drain line. It is VERY tight. I replaced mine with 1/2" ID tubing and it works much better. The output can be submerged, but you will want to provide an air vent if you are running a lot of water through it. |

blockamon:
should i glue the peices of hard pipe? and should I cut them to my size? Is it normal that the skimmer can w/out directions? Also the output tubing (hard pipe that returns the water to the sump) has a "T" joint that goes strait up...Is this the air vent you speak of? |

This has probably been asked but .......What is the difference between the Pacific Coast Import 3000 and the Recirc 200? Is one better than the other? Which one should I go with? Will be running external.
Thanks

My NW200 came today. The packaging was excellent. I'll upload a picture later... It looks like the manufacter has beefed up the box and stuff.
It's been running for about 10 minutes, but there isn't any skimmate... YET. |

are all the nw200's and nw150's coming with the internal t's now?
or does it depend on what store you are getting it from?

Yes, my NW200 has an internal T. The cap has SWC engraved into it deeply.
The packaging was top notch as well. |

I got my 200nw replacement body from aquacave today. It is soaking in vinegar for the night and will get it swapped out tomarrow. I can say that this one looks nothing like the first in terms of the hack job hole for the riser tube. For those not following the Mod thread and less into the DIY. Marinesolutions is now offering these....... Too late for me I ordered my 1 1/2" gate valve from savko this morning.

Razzagas,
I would recommend glueing the pipe together. If you just use a slip-fit, you might have a small weep. You can cut the pipes if you want, but it's not necessary. Just make sure the vertical pipe is at the cup bottom. |

I have been running almost a month with no dark skimmate yet, I just emptied my cup and cleaned everything on Tuesday , foam looks good we shall see, I have a low bioload on a 180 FOWLR (now 7 fish, biggest is 3.5")
