After rereading my post, it kinda came off like flaming, which I had no intention of. I was just trying to see if you were getting stamped pieces, or injection molded. Sorry if it came out wrong

Nice Idea, Do you guys Cure them first?

The plugs are made from injection molded PVC and need no curing time.

BTW you shouldn't bash this guy for taking the time to manufacture a quality product and then charging for his idea and time . he is entitled to make a profit off his business just like anyone else.
if ya don't like what he charges then buy a different product from a different source or make your own. btw i bet if ya contacted him and wanted tousands the price would be drasticly different than if ya want 50 |

The plugs are designed to sit on the "cross" of the eggcrate, this makes them much more stable than other plugs and designs we tried, and allows better space management.
The larger plug is better for encrusting corals or establishing colonies rather than frags, but takes up slightly more space on the racks. Epoxy putty adheres extremely well to these plugs, and they can be flipped upside down and glued to 1/2" PVC with standard PVC glue to create "legs" to hold up eggcrate racks. Disclaimer: I helped to design these plugs for free, I dont distribute them or have any affiliation with the companies that do, and I have no financial interest in the plugs in any way.

Does anyone have an image of these plugs against a ruler or with a coin for scale? I would like to see how big they are.

Are these only available via private sale right now or can someone post a web link to someone selling them?

The only place I know to get them are from a LFS near me which is right next to Ocean Vu manufacturing and a online store located in Tucson AZ

got mine in the mail and i give them a big thumbs up. id use these over the Boston aquafarms plug for propagation but i think for home use i still like the BAF ones because they blend in with the tank better.
I'm curious what his quantity discount is. |

Not sure if its just me....but if you really compare the prices of both the pvc plugs in question here and the aragonite ones from Boston aquafarms....the pvc ones really aren't all that much more expensive.
No one seems to complain too much when paying $.23+ ($23 per 100, still need to add shipping...say its even the same $7 as the pvc plug company...that makes them $.30) per aragonite plug vs. $.44 ($15 per 50 + $7 for shipping.) I would pay the extra (approx) $.14 for the pvc plug as I can use all 50 as soon as they arrive if I wanted to - the aragonite ones still have some curing to do, can cause a mini cycle if too many are added at once, etc. JMO

curing = the pain
i have one system that i didn't cure them long enough and all the pluming was coated in cement when i took it apart . no wonder why everything in that tank wasn't doing well ... |

seriously, if you need so many that you need to find a more cost effective solution than 20-30 cents each(bulk orders are as low as 20 cents a peice), you should just have your own mold made.

would be sweet though if they had a taper to the slots , this way they would grip the egg crate good , as it is now, not many frags in my system stay in the crate well, many blow right out

I personally would like square ones to promote spreading from one to the next

That's a good idea Snarkys. You could make them as big as you want if they had some sort of interlocking system, for bigger frags, or you could keep adding on to them as the frags grow, so they don't run out of room.

for stuff like zoas , star polyps, Xenia .... you have one larger square in the center with a mother Conley and a bunch of smaller squares around it for them to grow onto .
Id just like the squares better because they would share more edges |

Square ones could also be fashioned in a larger mold, more produced at one time. If all the pieces only have those little connecting pieces between them for the plastic to flow, you would be able to snap them off at will. Any square-edged shape, pretty large sizes, you definitely have the right idea Snarkys. I made a batch of aragonite ones myself that are square (figuring along the same route) with bases that fit into eggcrate... Too tedious to make and cure though. Somebody take Snarkys' idea, mass produce it, and send him a few thousand for compensation.
