Durso closed loop input
http://www.rl180reef.com/frames.htm
I have read the closed loop threads and appreciate all the detail on the return loop and outlets. I would like a little discussion about taking water out of the tank for the closed loop. I cannot drill easily at this point; the hang on back overflow option is not attractive. I did not see much detail about going over the top of the tank for the inlet. Does the Durso solution work well for folks? I would "suck" water through the (pitifully small) 3/4" "return" hole in corner overflow. Should I be concerned about velocity of water at closed loop inlet? Are spray bars "behind the rock" still popular for the return from the sump? Spray bar with DSB an issue? I have seen some threads. |

if the 3/4" bulkhead/hole is the only means of getting water into the overflow box (versus overflowing the top or drilling larger holes in the tower as when the tank is new/empty)... then you will be handicapped severely by the capacity of that small single line. SO much so that I cannot see the manifold even working (getting enough water to drive enough tees)
Your best and easiest solution at this point may be to simply have the manifold pump submerged in the display. Be creative my friend
