Without shafts, what do you do if the power goes out and you are not there to spin the impellers by hand when it comes back on?

Mavgi,
I dont understand what you said about make the mesh in the shape of a balloon. Do you mean the side of the mesh or the top of the mesh? Can you or someone else explain what you mean.

Just measured the air on all three pumps and I'm getting 16 LPM, 17 LPM and 18 LPM. I'm not sure what the difference between them is but at 3080LPH total with excellent bubble/foam quality I'm pretty happy with it :-) It's obvious that the bubble diffuser chamber put a dent in the air pull but it's breaking in nicely and I'm sure it'll perform better than before with the new mods....

YOu can probably get more. I'm pinning my 5-50 meter with an OTP3000, which is a slightly smaller pump.

I'm curious to see what I can get my 2700 to pull.

You're most likely pulling much more air, did you adjust the skimmer down?

I'm getting really dry skim. with a 3.5" neck, 50-60 scfh is just way too much, and I have to adjust really slowly.

You'd have to mod the crap out of the 2700 to get any more than 800 or so. The outlet of the pump is too small. I am thinking about chopping off all but the magnet 3/4 or so of the body of the pump and making a new shroud for it. I'll bet that with 1" ID in and 3/4" ID out you coule get a serious abount of air in there.

Kent, I'd go up to 1" out. Thats what I'm running on my OTP3000 and I Think its a big part of the reason I'm moving such a HUGE amount of air.

Maybe I'll hack that pump up some more. We'll have to see.

So 1" in and out? I'd like to make something in all black PVC and acrylic for asthetics and possibly replace my pumps with those insead. I'd bet that 80SCH would be possible out of a 3700 done up that way. Maybe 1.5" in and out, bigger meshwheel with like a 3-4" shroud....

Ok - I modded my Sedra 3500 and went from 3M to P4 mesh. The results, ehhh so so. I'll give it a few days to break in but I can't honestly see much of a change in skimmate.

I was only able to fit 2 layers on and the pump had a bit of a time getting going so I think 3 is out of the question.

Nice!
I need one of those meters... but it seems like my skimmer is better than before, so no need at the moment.

I test both while in the bucket and on the skimmer. The reading are the same. The skimmer is ASM G4X so it is about 30" tall.
