When I did the paint I have the tank covered and used my large fan to suck the fumes out. It didn't smell bad at all in the basement.

It's 7:06pm and I have about 6" of tap water in the tank.

Didn't see any water on the floor this morning so I drained the tank and dried it out. I already had about 220G of water ready so I put it in and added 1 box of salt. I should have all of the water made up by next Sunday.

I also add 16” high styrofoam walls to my 500G tub to keep any more fish from jumping out.

I’m going to build an electronic control for my surge tanks. It will use a windshield wiper motor to open and close the surge tanks. It will use two relays and 4 limit switches. Two limit switches will be for the lower & upper water trip points. The other two limits switch will only allow the motor shaft to move 180 degrees and then auto shut off. It’s the same circuit I used to control my light rack. I’m thing about making a PCB for this so other people could build these too. Speak up if you would like one. I wanted to try to make PCB that would mount to a given type of wiper motor.

This week I will be getting a skimmer connected to the tank.

Drip Drip Drip Drip the tank is almost full. I reached the overflow last night and connected up one of the skimmers. The tank will be full today. I'm taking off next Tue & Wed and hope I will be able to move fish by Wed. We will see how the water looks.

Tank is full of water and connected up the surge tank, while doing so I cracked one of my bulkhead in the tank I"m going to have to drain the tank to replace it. I new I should not have used these cheap bulkheads but they were the only thing that would fit through the 1 1/2" thick walls. I'm looking into routing out 3/4" of the wood on the outside of the tank so that I can install the good bulkhead I get at farm & fleet.

Now I just have to find a place to put 800G of water for a few days.

Pipe size 2". Need to be able to go through a 1.5" thick wall.

I can't fit a router on to the back of the tank due to the steel bars. I think I can use sever al sizes of a hole saw to cut the wood out with.

I have 1.5 bulkhead that would go through that thickness, but not a 2".

How about using a dremel to take away of some of the thickness??

Thanks All
Turns out the bulkhead is not broken just was not tight enough. I didn't find that out until I drained the tank. I'm going to take my chance and stick with these bulkheads. All of the water is back in the tank now. Guess where I put the 800G of water?

wow! Knowing my luck, if I had tried that I would have found out that there was a manufacturers defect and the plactic would have been full of microscopic holes.

Seriously, good idea.

looks like you have a lot more usable tank real estate in the footprint with the new overflow redesign. i like it!

it's looking good.
It only took me 1 day to move my 40 up to Chicago and have it all set up. seems to be taking you a bit longer.
I think you should throw a party when you are done setting up down there
