red slime is also a BIG factor in very low flow areas. I love this build I would def. get more LR and with out a doubt more FLOW in there and you will see a huge diffrence

thanks re flow , it def isnt the lack of flow in the tank , it is like a washing machine when the surge goes , it is just NEW tank syndrome and will clear up soon enough , i am not worried about it , and yes fauna marine ultralith system , is the same as zeovit one ,

thanks for all the comments guys , my skimmer pump pack in yesterday new tunze , so that been sent off while a new one is sent up , so just hope the tank doesnt suffer to much while it is gone , the feeding will be cut right back till then!

100% agree... this is just a stage you will have to go through ... and if anyone watches the videos you have to realize there is more than enough flow... Now conversely in my opinion dead spots are more likely to gather red slime ..but it doesn't look like the case here..

You have inspired me to build my next tank in much the same manner.. I look forward to starting that project in a few months ... until then kepp us posted... Thanks for sharing this process with all of us ...

NSW usage

What is the temperature of the water you are gathering?
Do you filter it or prep it in any way before using it?

I live near the ocean, but the local water is 55-65 F.

might be a good idea to have a tank with just a skimmer and maybe some carbon and let the water stay in there for a few days. just a thought.

I would love to be able to collect my own water from the sea. Anyway very nice tank.

Great project
Over all how you do like the vertical layout of your tank 4’ deep compared to your last tank setup of 2’
How did you determine the thickness of glass you needed, is the glass toughened / tempered
What would you do different if you had to start over
What are some local aquarium forums do you use

I look forward to watching your setup mature

How do you feel about the size of your tank and the stocking issues? ... What I mean is do you think that the way your tank is set up (i.e Depth + Volume) does it allow you more flexablity as far as the normal rules ., has it limited aggression where normally there would be some ? ... Between the various tangs of similar sizes, different species of clowns?... etc..etc... Is it the depth that changes the fishes behavior or the volume ? ..A lot of the constrictions that regular tanks have I don't see as an issue in your system.....In your opinion ...Everything looks very happy , so I am just curious what you thought was the difference ...

I hope that question came out the right way lol ....

Very nice!!!
Will you post a shot of the tank from a few feet away so we can get the full effect? How about a few pics of the refugium area?

your set up looks great. The alst time I saw a wood tank was about 15 years ago only that one was a little larger., 4' X 8' Base and 3" tall for around 700 Gallons. He had it up for about 5 years in his basement and finaly broke it down because maintance was driving him crazey. But I would imagine any 700 galoon tank takes almost a full time job to maintain.
