Looking good Edward, maybe a nice tall Reef Ceramic rock in front of the skimmer to kind of help camoflauge it .

Very nice Edward. I also love the (Japanese) rimless tanks! A rimless tank in this size, awesome.

I will follow this for sure!

You guys are funny!!

Leonardo, thank you very much.

Well I woke up this morning and the water is clear. Looks like I need to make some minor adjustments to the rocks and it also looks like i need to order about 50 more lbs. The view from the top is spectacular.

Wait until you see it at night when the LED moonlights are reflecting off the water (I recommend white LEDs BTW). The top down at night is almost as neat as the top down during the day.

Right now I have 180 lbs. I dont plan to add much more. Only for the extra stuff I plan to do. Remember, it will be an open aquascape.
Edward, I love the open look. I took out over 35lbs of rock in my little 70g cube to get a much more open aquascape look. I love it...I keep filling up the open space on the bottom with more corals though . I figure I have about 50-65lbs of rock in there now, most of it barely touching the bottom. I cannot wait to see your secret design .

BTW, I will never get bored of your pictures...reef geek that I am .

Coral and clams are more colorful viewed from top down. Fish though look best from the side. Yes no picture of yours can bore us, even a closeup shot of your microbubbles

Ocean Drive, that was my plan. I need to buy some corals first.

GSM, yes, but its not complete yet. I need to order some more rock to complete the setup. As for the fish, I also have another idea.

taco, I cant wait. I can imagine it now

alicia, I know what you mean. Its so hard to stop adding corals.

jac, microbubbles? none yet. whew!

Ok, I saw invincibles new aquascape. It's alright... it's not yaba daba doo. The only thing that's pretty interesting was the fact that the ER skimmer was still part of the aquascape. he he he

Seriously, his tank looks freaking awesome. 40" depth is unreal.

I have finished plumbing the sump and the overflow is now functional. My jaw dropped when I saw the finished rimless effect. Everything looks so clean & neat. For those who asked if you can add a wavebox, I would not do it. When I put my hand in to clean/rearrange, the water would move back and forth showing signs of overspill. You can probably get away with this with the overflow drainage being lower. But for my tank, this is perfect. It looks unreal!! I cant wait to get my light over it and let this tank cycle. For now, here are your teasers of the rimless effect!

Wow, that is looking incredible. How is the flow looking? How much flow through the sump?
Narowed down the list of fixtures yet?

Hey Chad! Thanks for the magnet cleaner! Cant wait to get it.

Honestly, I cant tell how the flow looks just yet until I get a light over it. I am trying to make out how its flowing inside, but the light is too dim. With the CL, I have two 1" shooting straight up and the others at an angle which will be hidden behind the rock work. Then I also have the two returns I can point where I need to. As for the sump flow, I am using my old Iwaki 30 from the previous tank. Its perfect. Not too much and not too little. I actually have it turned down a little. It's flowing just like it was with my previous tank.

As for lights, not yet. Still trying to figure out what will be the best setup for this tank. I want to go the SE route because it covers more, but not sure if 250 will be too dim or if 400 would be overkill.

I just got off the phone w/ someone who owns a shop and is using 250W as well as 400 and says he is getting better coloration under 400W. I think I would go 400W. As you said SE for sure. Maybe electronic ballasts though.

When you buy the fixture please make sure to check out the warranty and how easy the company is to deal with. My warranty has been a absolute joke. I've been having trouble now for 4 months and nothing has been done but a bunch of EM/PM's passed back and forth. Nothing like replacement parts that may actually fix something .

Chad, thanks for asking! I am getting mixed answers everywhere. I posted a thread on my local reef forum and someone plans to let me borrow his 400w SE setup. I want to see if it is overkill like he says (he changed back to 250's).

You know I will do my research. I will find that special light. Sorry to hear about yours. Is one of your bulbs still out?

One of the bulbs was broken in shipping and that was replaced by Fins Reef the next day. I keep having my fuse blow on the transformer on one of the MH bulbs. First we thought loose wire. I'vee checked for loose wires now at least twice. Now they think capacitor but nothing has been done. Right now the fuse has'nt blown in a couple weeks so I do'nt know what is going on . Never has been consistent or have any rhymn or reason.

For a 24" deep tank, I think 400w will be overkill. I think the DE fixtures look nicer above rimless because they are much thinner. Most SE fixtures are bulky. I'm putting a 250W SLS Lumenmax 3 above my 100g rimless cube.

Awesome Edward...keep those pics coming.

I've debated the 250/400 watt setup myself. My energy bill would prefer the 250's. Naka's Infinity setup looks very nice and I believe he's running 250's. I'm still up in the air... seems like (3) 250's in the Infinity fixture would do a nice job on a 72x30x24 tank. With the extra 10" width, have you put any thought into front-back coverage? I like the Infinity because of the coverage, but you could almost run two low profile fixtures one in front of the other on your insanely wide 40" tank!

Who makes the Infinity fixture you are referring to?
