Hi Gabe,

Nice tank!

I have a AGA 120 that's not to different from yours, I'm in the middle of setting up a OM-4way and could use your input. Would you mind clicking my red house and have a look?

Have you been cleaning your overflows and if so what do you use?

Thanks

Nice setup. Wish I had the extra cash for a 210. How is that JBJ Artica chiller for your 210?

Thanks!

Cprowler,

It's a good thing you asked since I just replumbed the entire closed loop this weekend. I wasn't too happy with the way it was. I'll take a look at your thread and give some of my input.

I actually just cleaned the inside and outside this weekend. I'm quite surprised as to how easy it is to scrape off. Well the big chunk that is. The rest I used some pads and continuous scrubbing. I used the Kent marine scrape tool with a metal blade on it.

Sanosuke,

This was the same chiller I had on my old 100 gallon, which means it's been close to 5 years since I've had it. Never had any problems whatsoever with it, quite happy with it's reliability. Though rating wise it should be more than sufficient for my 210 I think it runs a little too long to pull down from 82F to 80F (I think about 2hr, but I'll have to double check). If I were to purchase a new one I'd probably go with the Artica 1/2HP Commercial chiller. They apparently are more efficient.

Sure i'll take some pic tomorrow and show you. I only replumbed the output section. I'm much more happier the way it is now.

Thanks .

Carbon and filter sock are my best friends. They keep the water so clear.

Here is the best pic i could take. Here are the changes.
-Changed the main pipe running up to Spaflex
-Moved the union at the output to be right behind the tank as oppose to right after the OM 4way
-Changed the first part of the plumbing for the outlet to spaflex
-Added four more modular hose fan outlet with an elbow to shoot across
-Drilled the end of each outlet down so that it doesn't lift up when flow switches.

Nice thread gabe3d. I can really relate to this - we're almost twinkie (similar tank and tiles)

Only difference is mine lacks water, rock, sand, fish and (oh..) corals
I do have spiders and spider webs.

On a serious note I do have a few questions:

- Is the hood from AGA? I noticed the lighting hood looks like Lumenarc - correct?

- How do you like egg crates @ the bottom of the tank?

Are you tall, dark and handsome though? Else we can't be twinkies...

1. No it's not. I jimmy rigged some wood together to make that. I really wanted to get the AGA but i didn't want to buy some new lights since i had the lumenarcs from the previous tank.

2. Egg crate at the bottom is awesome for anchoring LR and preventing them from sliding. I wouldn't have been able to aquaspace the way I wanted to if it weren't for it.

thanks - I was wondering how and why you cut the AGA hood if you had it. I was leaning toward lumenarcs for my build but held off b/c I already had some spiderlights and space is a factor on the AGA hood.

BTW - after many beers, wine, and shots - I find many people match that same description you described

Lumenarcs are worth every penny they rock!

... so does this tank!

Yup Lumenarcs are really good. I was originally going to go with only two reflectors because of the awesome coverage but AGA has those braces every third of the length on the top of the tank.

Thanks! I was looking at your thread as well and your tank has matured really fast and it is looking great now.

Thanks gabe3d ... It's been a long first year for my tank. I was fortunate to have all the stuff from my 75 g and a ton a well cured live rock to start off the 120 g.

I use the Lumenarc minis on the 120 g but I have some full sized Lumenarcs that will go on my 220 that is still wrapped in plast. Don't worry, the 120 is staying up as a full reef, the 220 is going to be an angel friendly reef.

Keep up the good work!

A very interesting and astechically pleasing looking skimmer. Can't wait to see how this compare to the rest.
