I am enjoying a very similar top off system and I love it. I like the dosing pump method much better than having a float valve in the sump. It took me a solid year to get from tank purchase to 'full of saltwater'. Keep taking your time!! Your setup looks amazing so far.

aztbs - thanks, not as many cool mechanical thing-amajigs as your tank thou! I love your light setup, very cool!

I just tested my water from the Typhoon III and regular RO water is 27ppm, DI is 0ppm and my regular tap water is.... 655ppm. Nasty, Nasty, Nasty. Now I know why my other tank was always battling some sort of algae issue. Bad skimmer, Bad circulation, crummy water = new tank with a lot more thought and research into it.

Well I finally got salt water again! Everything is hooked up and running except for my calcium reactor (need co2) and so far so good. I put a 1" sand bed in for looks and the grain size is too small and blowing all over the place. I will siphon out the areas that mounded up and go with a little larger next time. I purchased 2 smaller pieces of stinky live rock to help see the rest of the reef ceramics and added a few small green chromis.
Here are some pictures and don't laugh ay my redneck engineered light setup, it's just temporary until the canopy is built

I also moved the rock around, I didn't like the big mound in the front so this seems to leave a lot more room for all of those SPS that will someday live here... Now we just wait...

I wasn't sure how I was going to like the Reef Ceramics but I'm happy with the overall look, it will really be nice when they age and get some coral on them. I bought the Algae Free "Great White" Magnet and that thing is strong, you almost need 2 hands to move it around. I have 2 young girls and I don't have to worry about them getting a hold of it and moving it. I need to get my Co2 tank filled and finally get the Calcium Reactor hooked up then all systems are a go. Now I just need to find somebody local to build the canopy and skin the bottom. I'm having a hard time finding solid maple wood that is already finished, a couple of places have it but it needed to be planed down and cut to width and length (more skills than I have). Does anybody know a good wood guy/girl in arizona?

where can you get Reef Ceramics? Do only LFS carry it in Arizona? I love that look. Sorry for the questions, just really like the look.

Well I blew a fuse on my RK2 today, so I switched over to a regular surge protector and a couple of hours later poof! So I looked at what was plugged in to what and I had all of the big pumps, lights and chiller on 1 circuit Not to bright. So off to find a new fuse and figure out the mess of cords under my tank. I have one closed loop that is on a separate circuit so that keeps the tank circulating. It was a good test to make sure my sump didn't overflow and I passed..

Looks great.
Hate to be anal but it's not a cube!
48x48x48 is a cube.
So it's a half cube.

It seems that a LOT of people in the hobby are geometry deficient.
L=W is not enough to be a cube. L=W=H is a cube.

Well the culprit in my blow fuse was my air pump for my ozone. Apparently I didn't loop the line high enough and forgot to install the check valve I bought causing water to siphon back into the pump frying it I'm glad I had the GFI sockets installed. Live and learn I guess.

Just a few pictures, I still need to figure out how to take some decent shots without the lights overtaking the pictures.

I was going to get a 48x48x30 but it was almost $800 more. A true 4 foot cube would be cool but can you imagine cleaning or working on it.
