That probably is true, if you think of the nice white pieces of bleached coral people throw in thier tanks for decoration they usually end up turning a dark greenish color.
Wonder if the starboard will darken up? Although I bet being a plastic material it will attract coralline pretty quick.

Wow, very interesting. I hope you'll continue to update this thread as it progresses in the coming months.
Let me guess, in a few years, you're gonna try CC for a while?

You forgot: -Encourages faster coral growth -Causes fishes to spawn -prevents hereditary baldness Personally, I think it'll be a coralline magnet. If Bomber posts pictures down the road of it covered in coralline, I'm willing to bet it won't be long before someone IS marketing it. Get a patent, just in case E. Still lovin' the rockwork. |

Two things:
(1) I hate your tank !!! You know why? coz it ain't mine !!! I hate you too bomber ....... I swear I ain't the jealous type :-) All jokes aside, I think that is one of the greatest looking tanks I've ever seen - can wait to see it as it matures, and the fish grow etc. (2) Has anyone said this yet? It seems like a plain old "Berlin" set up to me? No substrate, no filters, just a goodskimmer and banging water movement to keep detritus in suspension. am I right? OK then .... amke it 3 things ...... can I see another pic please ..... even if its more of the same thing :-) Regards, Matt (who needs a tank like bomber). |

What about the pumps and skimmer? The sand bed was as alive as anyone could have one. We were having trouble with phosphates and DSB's don't process phosphates, they store and leak them. I'll get pictures, but it's not the finished product by any means. So far the StarBoard is clean, the glass is clean, the tank is clean like I like it and like a reef likes it. I did add a lot more fish, and I'm able to feed them properly. That I like. |

I'm no expert but I don't think thats an opinion. I've read articles about dying reefs caused by excesive run-off and the indication of this is increased growth of algae that ends up over growing the corals and killing them off.
