It is nice to be satisfied in this hobby once in a while .

The fish you are getting are awesome.
I'm also in the same boat with a 3' tank. I'm using an L3 right now but it is a very unfinished look. What are you using now, and where did you find info on the new Maristar?

I must say that this is the most beautiful tank I have ever seen. Needless to say, the fish and lighting are just an added bonus. Great job/vision and I look forward to future postings.

Rebecca, here you go. Hope this helps a little. The B stands for Barracuda and the A stands for Aquamedic Oceanrunner.

Tritonian, thanks for the link to the butterflies. Here's a link with some butterflies in a Japanese tank:

Alicia, thank you. Once you start buying, you cant stop. The good thing is that these fish are doing great!! It sure helps a lot when you buy them locally when you see them eat or buy from a reputable vendor like liveaquaria.

Ian, thanks a bunch. I need to finish the lighting project. I've been too busy enjoying the tank as how it is now.

Love this fish..

Mushrooms from naka - they have already started to multiply on the mushroom rock.

Purple Passion Nepthyea Rock towards the back..

Cali Tort from CAReefer

Green Nephtyea from naka - its growing fast

Is there really water in there or are those just mobiles?

So how do you keep your CL intakes clean in the center of the tank??

Hey Brian! The reason why these pictures came out great was because I used the underwater housing. I placed the camera in the water and started snapping away. It makes such a difference taking pics in the water.

jnarowe, it's a waterless tank. As for the CL intakes, I have to remove the rocks they are under to clean it out. It's very easy to remove and I just unscrew the screen. In the beginning when my sand wasnt stable (bacteria glue), sand would get sucked into this screen. Now, I have removed the sand around it and dont have this problem. Its clean. Usually I would see something.. but I can just pull it off. This is a pic when i first had it running.

That's interesting indeed. I would think the flow would be restricted by having the rock over it like that, but I guess it's working well. I take it this will be a snail-free system??

m1, thank you!

jnarowe, funny you bring up the snail subject. I do have a couple of snails from turbos to trochus to elephants.. oh and conch's. Anyhow.. whats funny is I have always wondered how one japanese tank had pink snails.. Well I think I found out the secret!! Just like this example:

I currently have 2x250w MH PFO mini pendents hanging over the tank with no other supplementation. I run the 14K phoenix bulbs.

Thanks everyone!

Marshall, all your corals are doing well. No problems what so ever. Those Reefermadness corals you referred me are starting to make me drool once again for SPS. I've been holding back! I bought some more test SPS locally to see how they do before I start going after the prized colonies. Remember.. Im looking for those nice stags. I can get a hold of a purple yongei.. but looking for a blue one. That's the coral Im after in the SPS arena.

Chad, the secret to the snails is not the species, but the time it took to color them. The secret is out! You cant say that about a fish or a coral, but you sure can with a snail shell.

GSM, its just a hermit that found his new home in a human painted shell. The trick is to find some nice dull shells. Smooth them out, then paint. Once painted, leave them upside down in your tank for a hermit to pick up.

Invincible569..... I just wanted to say that your aquarium is an inspiration to myself and I'm sure many aquarist alike. I hope someday in my future time, space, money, wife and my soon to be newborn baby allow for such a beautiful setup as yours.

My MI blue legs are running around in golfball sized Mexican turbo shells that are covered in coraline. They look funny!
