My female does not have the 3rd stripe either, I knew it when I bought it... I like that and would think it would be cool to breed the stripe out totally... Honestly I like mis barred clowns, I think it makes them unique. I think Rods clowns seem to produce a fair amount with different patterns and I think it is one of the things that makes them so attractive.

What is weird about mine is the black changes.. I think sometimes it is based on food or lighting... I know some people feel a bta or even the background on the tank makes them change colors too. Mine seemed to lighten up when they started laying eggs...

Wow, these are nice clowns. Such consistency in coloring. Anyone know if these are available or when they will become available again?

I just started using the food and everything does go crazy in the tank. I saw hermits and snails come out of the rockwork that I didn't know were still alive.

I'll check out his site. So, these are $40 each with $60 s/h/i. About $180 a pair?

.edit. Oops, excused my math, that's $140/pair shipped.

i paid 158 shipped for my pair, 50 for each clown and 58 for priority overnight fedex. he has new pricing he charges 50 for clowns that have more color. but the 40 dollar ones really have just as much chance of developing full color as do the 50 the 50 dollar ones might just be older.

I got him first week in May. He is from the leftover "slow to color" group sara posted on page 28 in this thread. I THINK he is the one on the very bottom of that pucture

There are a few pictures on page 29 of him the week I got him.

He's 1 year this month

for those of you that have ordered rod's clowns, did you QT? We know they are coming from a reliable source. I just have concerns about keeping high water quality in my 10gallon qt tank. I would probably plan to change out 10%/week with my reef tank water. any thoughts would be appreciated...
