That's why I built the rest of the stand separate at 1st. I then put the stand against the wall to see how close to the door I could get. I ended up about 24" from the door, which gives me 35" of clearance to the tank corner (if moving something thru the doorway). Since the doorway is only 28" wide, I have plenty of room
I would have loved to take the entire dual doorway out at the end, but that would have involved major construction/support.
Cutting the wall open was relatively easy & fast
Note: check blades on sawzall frequently when cutting an old "cement" wall.
The opening is 9' 2" wide, tank is only 6' so I have 2' at one end, 1' at the other (to the part of the wall I left)
Tank looks nice, can't wait to start filling it
The new pics will show setup better

Additional 2x4 & metal brace. I used a "T" brace for better side to side support. Not really needed...but..

Side view, note the muck up on the 4x4 posts, cut em short. But with bracing & filler & sides installed they will be fine.
Measure 3x, cut once, test assemble 1...
Then do the rest...

Last pic of the night. Close-up of the drilled holes. Just a little bit of chipping after drilling. I drilled from the inside out, so the chips are on the outside. Totally covered by the bulkheads. 2.5" holes, for a 1.5" thruput.
Ready to plumb, sumps are in the basement. All plumbing supplies have arrived, EXCEPT:
ordered 90 elbows from MarineDepot along w/rest of $180 order. They were out & sent rest 2 day Fedex (already recd). They backordered elbows, just recd shipping confimation.
They shipped them from CA GROUND....***!!???
I just love idiots...I sent them a p!ssed off E-mail asking *** they were doing. Waiting to hear....

Hi David,

Your original order was actually shipped out for you on the 25th via FedEx 2nd day service and was delivered on the 28th, according to the FedEx website (tracking number 7925 1902 7877). This shipment included everything other than the elbow fittings that were back-ordered. The UPS tracking number that you have received are for the back-ordered elbow fittings. If you have not receive the original FedEx package, please let us know and we will contact FedEx for them to initiate a trace on the package.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

Sincerely,
Joseph

OK, so basically they avoided the question I asked, which was "Why did you send my backordered parts via UPS ground when I placed my order Fedex 2 day"
God I hate incompetence

I sent them ANOTHER E-mail asking the same question.
Anybody else have poor service from MarineDepot???

I guess you shouldn't order anything from them if you need it right & on time.

Are you planning on doing all the finishing work while the tank is on the stand? I'd be concerned about breaking the tank or getting putty all over it. Looks like fun!!! Man when I get a house....

Tank will be cycling for 3-8 weeks, depending upon if I get additional LR that may need to cycle. In that time the top of the tank will be covered. I won't be doing much mudding, everything will be finished w/wood, no additional sheetrock will be added
Since we will be painting the rest of the house (and filling small holes) I will keep the tank covered until I am ready to transfer fish/corals from the old house to the new house

Yes, I have to build a canopy that will either sit on the tank (most likely). Or if I find something, it will be on a "track" that can be raised off of the tank
I have a dual (2) 250w AB MH SE PFO HQI setup, may switch to DE at some point
I was going to buy a single 400w for the middle, but after Scott posted that reefnrolls' 125g has 175w (and it looks great - I've seen it), I am going to stick w/250w.
Most likely an Icecap setup, I also need to buy 3 reflectors.
I have an Icecap 660 that I will setup for dual 6' VHO actinics on this tank
Moon lights (or night viewing most likely will be red or blue rope light

Marine Depot came thru, very happy, I have heard in other threads that they will work with a customer. Great news, I can finish plumbing & fill the tank up!!

Is there anyone who needs 1.5" threaded elbows so I don't have to refuse the ground shipment?

"Hi David,
We apologize if it was not explained to you clearly. We are usually able to ship out back-ordered item free of charge via UPS Ground Service, but would need to charge the shipping if the back-ordered items needed to be expedited as well.

I will go ahead and overnight the elbow fittings to you today so that they will arrive to you tomorrow. For the ground service shipment, you can simply refuse the package upon delivery and it will make its way back to us.

We apologize for any inconveniences that may be caused. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

Sincerely,
Joseph

I'm drilling the floor tonite & filling tank, well starting to at least.
I should be able to finish plumbing tomorrow (1/2 day) and start everything up for a test (I think)
I'll still need to run electric. My main goal is to get sand & (cured) rock in tank, bring up to temp & let "cycle" if needed.
I picked up a 75g from Scott as an additional sump/frag/whatever tank for the basement. I'll drill that tonite.

Should be ready just in time for the auction...

Drilled the floor, setup the RO/DI, added 150lbs of sand & started the RO/DI running. Only made about 8g in 2 hours. I considered letting it run overnite.
Must of been deja vu...woke up to my 60g leaking this morning

1/2 day, then I'm going home...
