I am so sorry you are having a rough time. you need to remember you are the 1 who brought all this out for public viewing so I am not quite sure what you expected. For the most part, I see this thread as suggestions to help you out of a tight spot. I understand you posted in a moment of despair (sorry if I am being persumptious). I would take some of the suggestions as valid. Go to the Salvation Army for your daughter's sake at least. We have in my area called the Community Action Center. Maybe there is something like that in your area. GL and know that a lot of us have been in your situation.

yer location just say virginia, so ima assume tidewater...

i know the navy marine corps relief society has an office, behind pizza hut i think...

of course they were never really helpful to us when we needed help..

you should, upon new orders.. and maybe a reenlistment get a months pay advance... very negotiable, id involve a chaplin...

the advance is only slightly better than a payday loan , but it is at no interest...

and uniforms damaged in the course of regular duties can be replaced from the commands pocket. i dont recall the exact language , but you can get supply to issue replacements for a piece or two of "damaged" uniforms..

on a side note, that sorta thing was a major factor for me getting out... always hated "being punished" for someone else's flub... not to mention my own...

not being judgmental or nothing... just saying yikes... 1200 rent... my house payment was like 700 (about 1/3 of my gross income / = my whole housing allowance as an E6) in norfolk after taxs and insurance... and now w/ 5x the space its still only like 800 (in the boonies)

you replaced a whole seabag?, also just remembered the base thrift store w/ uniform stuff... never saw it ,but its supposed to be a good deal...

for wic , if your kid is to old, or you make to much (doubtful) im sure thats based off 'base pay' but tell em your pregnant... its an auto qualifier for lots of assistance stuff...

in 10 years in the navy, numberouse commands, meeting thousands of like situation peoples i ever met about 5 i think fondly of....

last bit and ill bother someone else a bit...

my mrs worked at the base kfc/tacobell/pizzahut, she was making about 10 bucks an hour... she could have made as much as i did if she had been full time or more... the daycare cost is less than what can be made, and daycare pays you back in tax refund...

also, if you havent done it already, switch your state tax withholding to a state that dont have 'state tax' , you just provide a zip code, and viola you have a new home state..

most of this dosnt help with the next couple days, but its all got on short notice... besides being able to cut a check to a shipmate PM w/ a name and addy and some stuff can show up on a door step in about 4 days... depending on the post offices..

Yes I made this stuff public. But, I really only wanted prayers and not suggestions. I really do appreciate them But I am already doing and have been living for years what everyone keeps suggesting. I know how to hang in there through rough times, as this is not the first and will not be the last time I will go through this.

Yes we replaced an entire seabag because it was stolen with all of its contents. A lot of stuff has been stolen that has been replaced over and over and.... ya get the picture.

I wasn't being rude to anyone here at all. I love all of you guys and I really just want the prayers

I am doing my best and taking care of my family the best that I can. I just need the motivation to get me through it

wow I keep skipping things I mean to answer... I am about 3 blocks from VA Beach oceanfront. I lived in the ghetto for two years in Norfolk and I can't sleep listening to gunfire anymore. I am in a nice area now where I can actually take my daughter out to play without looking over my shoulder. At the old place, everyone knew, kids and parents alike, when you here pops or squealing tires to run or duck and cover.

I really do not mean to be harsh or judgmental. I am trying to help.

If you're making that kind of money, with no state taxes, you should have enough to pay your bills and save some. You really should sit down and plan out your bills and plan a budget. Put aside so much money for bills, food, savings, etc. You should get rid of any credit cards as soon as possible and do not buy anything else unless you have the cash for it. Interest rates will eat alot of your money.

Hopefully, if you do the things suggested in this thread, you won't be in this situation again.

Good luck.

I see that so many of us have been there doen that it seems that we all crawled out of the gutter and I know you will to. You are a fighter and I don't see this stoping you in the least. Keep tredging along girlfriend and before ya know it you'll be up and running in no time.

CRP hun we have a budget and plan all bills and groceries, gas, ect.

We had to move this month and had to pay a transfer fee, prorated rent, and closing bills on utilities... not to mention my husband got sent to a new command and had to have new uniforms all while the Navy decided to take out huge chunks of money out of our paycheck.

When you couple extra bills and shortened pay in one months time frame, ya get a crisis.

I am really getting upset now though, because I don't need advice. I took it all in, I stated that I have it under control... and for petes sake I just want prayers and good Karma.

I was reluctant all day to post anything I found amusing due to your post. I thought it was wrong to have fun while you were in so much pain Now you are crabby with the outpouring of support you received?

glad you are finding a way to get things done. Of course I am sending you some good vibes your way as well.

There is a lesson here if you choose to find it though. Living paycheck to paycheck on ANY income will sooner or later bite you in the butt. Not having an emergency fund is the cause of your pain at this point. To be clear an emergency fund should cover your bills for 3 months (min) to 6 months (recommended).

I am in the military as well and understand all the support organizations available to help. I have had to take a young man that had his identity stolen to the AF aid office to get assistance. Help is available if you look for it at all pay grades in the military.

Stuff happens, I would suggest that you reorganize and prioritize your budget to build an emergency fund or you will end up with another "it's just this month" again.

You have been around long enough to know how the lounge works. We care about our fellow nut jobs. Thats why we bother to respond at all.

i didnt realize before that you have a steady income. if you make 4k a month and you are still broke, you need to take a serious look at what you are doing. sorry, but that's just real. and as for people not giving you suggestions or commenting, well, you posted this out into the public. like aLittletank said, you should know that if we didn't care we wouldn't respond at all. I have less than five dollars in my bank account right now, no job, rent, electric and cellphone bills about to be due here, and a mortgage, electric bill and condo association fee due in another state that i moved here from. i know what it feels like to be broke, trust me. i wish i made half of what you do in a month. i would be set.

That's not fair.

The reality is, for a majority of Americans, the more people make, the more they spend. There are plenty of people that make much more than 4k a month that still live pay check to pay check. When the unexpected happens then they are in crisis mode. (been there, done that)

There are plenty of people that make 2k a month (or less) and still manage to have an emergency fund and put money away each month. (been there, done that too)

It is all about the choices you make when you budget your funds and make your purchases.

i've been thinking about that post since i made it, and you're right, that isn't fair. pipe, i apologize. my frustration with my own current situation got the better of me there, and i'm sorry for that. i truly wish for you to find a way through your current troubles and come out the other side a better person for it. that said, i am going to keep my opinions to myself from this point on, cause i'm really in no place to advise anybody about finances, so again, i apologize and wish you the best.

You know, in many other forums this thread would have deteriorated into a bitter name-calling insult fest. Here, loungers are falling all over themselves apologizing on the off-chance their comments were misinterpreted.

Well done, Loungers.

do we all get a gold star?

hey pipedream, something you said a few posts ago greatly disturbs me so i'm gonna sound like the average worried mother...if you are losing 10 pounds in only one week, that is VERY unhealthy! you need to be taking care of yourself because your little daughter is relying on you. now, go eat something!!! and drench it in chocolate!!!

Wow! I just spent the last 30 minutes reading this entire thread. Why you ask? Because I just had the EXACT same situation with 2 small children, minus the military. And the payroll problem was from cancer taking me out of the workplace.

I was the sole income in our home. With 2 children, Daycare costs more than a job pays. We fought & fought & posted asking for thoughts & prayers.

I managed, on $1200 a month income to make things work for a 3 month period. Man was it tough but we made it! One thing that helped was my loss of appetite. The Chemo killed my appetite for a 2 week period. I lost 20+ pounds. My Mortgage is $600 a month. My light bill a ridiculas $300 a month (Too many tanks, Thinning now).

Anyway, Point is through all the thoughts/prayers I recieved from the forums I posted on, God watched over us and we made it through.

I still can't work and still get Chemo every month but now we can afford a hamburger again.

Hang in there.....That light at the end of the tunnel is not really a train.
