Cool stuff, well great stuff. I am interested in seeing it full and flowing.

I am surprised that with your DIY skills you didn't build the skimmer yourself. Not that the one you bought is shabby by any means, I'd love to have it.

I'll be hanging around and looking forward to your progress.

Sorry some of the #s I gave you earlier were incorrect ( I assumed 2 feet across the front, not 4 ).

Assuming 4 feet of height AND 4 feet of width on the glass pane:

Total pressure on Glass = ~2257 lbs

of course the weight on the glass is not distributed evenly.
The bottom 1 foot of the glass will carry 1048 lbs
second foot up will carry ~679 lbs
third foot up ~400lbs
top foot ~126lbs

Sorry not responsible for calculations following 'putting down a few pints' ;-)

If there was one common complaint from individuals that purchased large tanks from me it was that they could reach the bottom of the tank for aquascaping. I always recommended that individuals selected a tank by measuring there arm reach and comparing it to the height and dept of the tank.

An example I have a 34" arm span, so I take 34 squared or 1,156. If I want a tank that is 24 inches high I subtract the square of 24 from 1156 which gives me 580, the root of 580 is
around 24" so that is the deepest I would recommend.

The bat this is that most people that are 5' 2" tall want a tank that is 36" tall and those that are 6"8" tall are happy with tanks that are 16" tall.

Here is my tank that I made out of wood , glass ,and resin, its 36 tall x 44 long x14 wide . Fits perfect on my desk, I placed artificial corals, in it because I don't want the fish to peck and eat my corals ,works out great! You have done alot of work so far . looking forward in seeing your tank full of water.

tagging along.

That looks sweet.

at least you have thought this though correctly unlike the guy on another thread i have been watching.

actually that guy needs to keep it simple and overthought things, making it wayy toooo much....

Once you get fish in it you will probably have to clean the lower parts of your glass from cat drool stains. LOL

Glass should be tomorrow well it better be ! thanks for the comment so far , more details , the tank will have 2 seio power heads inbeside the skimmer and my ultralith reactor and calcium reactor, they will put out 7000lph between them , but also in there will be a 3000lph pump , which will fill a carlson, well a modified carlson surge connected to the other side of the tank , this is fitted above the tank and connected to it with a 55mm pipe , this will hold around 20 gallons and will surge against the sieo pumps

and surge box before resin etc , the box will be completley enclosed with a lid to make it almost silent and a device to hopefully cut down on as much ait entering the tank as possible , details of which i will post once , or inded if it works

Why not use bulkheads instead of trying to use resin to secure the plumbing?

Yeah, resin wont hold for long, especially on the surge box.

I would be concerned that weight or pressure on the fittings would cause the resin to crack.

The vibrations from the surge and water pumps will cause the resin to fail in very short order. I really don't have a solution for you, but I would not go the way you are going...
