That looks interesting already and you don't have anything in there yet.
I bet it's gonna be a feast for the eyes when you get it where you want it. Why did you cook the rocks or start over, did you move?...

rdmpe- I have plenty of experience with "island" type aquarium designs. FWIW it looks like the water returns are located down near the bottom of your aquarium. This is a critical design flaw. What happens if the power goes out? Never rely on check valves because they can and will eventually fail (use hammer and check valve in a search). If electricity to your aquarium and check valves ever fail, the water level inside will drop and livestock can be left baking under your lights (not to mention that a LOT of water will drain to your sump area). Bring all water returns to the surface of the water. You can hide the returns in one of those rock stacks.

I wanted to have two distinct rock features on either side of the tank and in the middle i wanted an open space for my carpet anemone. Here are some pics, the tank has been up about a week now. It almost reminds me of a trench kind of.

Here is mine.

I wanted to have space around the formation so the water could flow easily.

One year later I can see that the grovth put limitations on the origional idea.

Yeah. My favorite part of the suspended tank is the extension cord hanging to the left for the light.

What is that on the sides of the tank? What's it made out of?
Thanks,

You got me The extension cord picture is from a year ago when the tank was first set-up. Those pictures show the rock formation better than the current ones with coral grown in. The proper cord is now run through the stainless steel pipe with the plumbing.

I used shotcrete to cover the end walls in the 450 and 600 gallon tanks. I gave DIY instructions in this thread. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=993625

Here are some more detailed shots. WARNING! there are exposed extension cords in some of these shots, as the cabinetry isn't completed yet

sry, giving you a hard time about the cord.

I did that to a side of one of my tanks by gluing live rock rubble to the glass and it took forever, I like the shotcrete idea.
