rdmpe- I have plenty of experience with "island" type aquarium designs. FWIW it looks like the water returns are located down near the bottom of your aquarium. This is a critical design flaw. What happens if the power goes out? Never rely on check valves because they can and will eventually fail (use hammer and check valve in a search). If electricity to your aquarium and check valves ever fail, the water level inside will drop and livestock can be left baking under your lights (not to mention that a LOT of water will drain to your sump area). Bring all water returns to the surface of the water. You can hide the returns in one of those rock stacks.

I wanted to have two distinct rock features on either side of the tank and in the middle i wanted an open space for my carpet anemone. Here are some pics, the tank has been up about a week now. It almost reminds me of a trench kind of.

Yeah. My favorite part of the suspended tank is the extension cord hanging to the left for the light. ![]()

You got me
![]() I used shotcrete to cover the end walls in the 450 and 600 gallon tanks. I gave DIY instructions in this thread. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...hreadid=993625 Here are some more detailed shots. WARNING! there are exposed extension cords in some of these shots, as the cabinetry isn't completed yet ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I did that to a side of one of my tanks by gluing live rock rubble to the glass and it took forever, I like the shotcrete idea.
