Blankenship, here's the link
http://www.protein-skimmer.com/shopp...itemdetail.asp Solid, do a search on dwyer meter's. I have the rma 7 that is 5-50scfh and i also have a 20-200scfh meter from there as well. JR, i like the odyssea pumps for a few reasons......i'll explain the wp1000 at 1000gph. Yes its 130w but pulling air its much much less, round 80w which isn't good but isn't terrible to me. Its not huge, about the same size as the quietone 4000 and much smaller than the oct3000 and it will pull 55+scfh easily and it starts up every time, never a problem and at 40bux it doesn't break the bank. No rust problems, doesn't run hot, been running 2 for over 2 years and they have never once not started up. They are unbelievable pricewise for the performance. JR, i know your a modder like myself, get one and let me know what you think......i guarantee you won't be sorry but you won't have a skimmer large enough that can handle it! lol, one more thing, it pushes 1000gph unmodded but i guarantee its more like 600 or less once over 35scfh.

luke, i would like to get more air into my skimmer, enough where i have to cut my standpipe on my NW150 so it won't overflow. Mods i have done, bored out elbow, bored out stock venturi, both holes, and 3 layers of mesh. Couldn't get the 4 layers to restart easily, and didnt like blowing into the tube everytime to get it to restart lol. But what else can I do.
If i bored out the volute in/out really do a lot on the otp-2000?? Should I change my venturi to one like yours?? I don't like modding parts though that are hard to replace. Will making a venturi like the one Mr. Bonjangles did be good enough?? Or should i make one like that complicated one in the "octo skimmer mods" thread, though i think that was for a otp3000 so i'd have to change all the fittings sizes. Sorry for all the questions, thanks for the help in advance O and changing the venturi to either one, what size ID tubing should i use for the otp-2000. 1/4"???

Luke- Could you post pics of the venturi you have on your Odyssea pump? I didn't see it in the pics you already posted.
Thanks Mike |

Flyguy i'd take a 3/4" female thread fitting and put a piece of 3/4" to a 1/2" in it facing the pump's 1/4" hose adapter it'll give you more results.

Solid, its just a simple venturi, a 1/4" hose adapter drilled in a 3/4" fitting right before the threads start. Thats it. I didn't want the 45-55scfh as that would be waaay to much so i just left it real simple. If i want more i'd just add a 3/4" to 1/2" piece in it like i previously had in my sk388 to get those #'s.

Here's the first 24hrs of skimmate as a recirc. Overall i'm very pleased as i'm sure the skimmate production is going to pick up alot in the next few weeks.

I bored out my elbow and am getting about 18scfh. I haven't changed the venturi or cut off those needles. Sitting at 48w I'm happy with the results, thanks for the suggestions. Well done.

Well i said w/e and did your venturi mod. Couldn't find that nipple for the hose at HD, so i just bought some 1/4 OD rigid tubing, still flexible though. Drilled the hole where the threads are, cut that slant in the end of the tubing, put it right in and superglued it tight. Still don't have to cut my standpipe, but its like a millimeter above the lowest possible setting now.
Also, it increased the wattage from 36 to 42 with this venturi mod, does that sound right?? And how comes it seems when i pull more air, i can't get a dense foam, it just seems wet and the bubbles are big. Other than those questions, it's much better. Thanks luke.

Flyguy, anytime you do a mod its going to have to rebreak in for a bit, so you'll eventually get the foam head it ll just take a bit. Its ok if the bubbles going up the neck are big as they just turn into a foam head. You just have to let it go for a day or so and it should turn to normal.

Well, your a bit over wattage which isn't good. I'd maybe cut a couple needles off your impeller or cut back the mesh a bit.

I did the meshmod and it made somewhat of a difference. Then I drilled the stock venturi to 11/64" and used the same airline tubing which took only 1 minute and that made a huge difference. Also the air intake is quieter now. Would making the custom venturi make even a larger difference? I dont have a Dwyer to measure.

cthetoy the big difference comes from the new venturi and boaring out the elbo. YOU HAVE to boar out the elbo to get the air in there.

I bet its 3.5 or 4" max. If so you could mod both pumps and get 30scfh out of it and it will be quite a skimmer. First think i would do is boar out the two elbo's, drill out the venturi and meshmod the pump's.

Sounds like something Ill do tomorrow. Since my pumps are recirc, what do I do with the original airline holes in the elbows? Do i plug it some way since im doing the venturi mod?
