Thanks for all the pics guys. I have been keeping a 40G reef for about 2 years and have searched the web and have seen some pretty nice tanks but had to find out if you could build a TOTM without $6000 worth of SPS. I only recently stumbled onto this site and it has been a huge help. Now I know sooner or later they will see the beauty in softie and LPS tanks as well as species tanks like the ananome and seahorse tanks I have seen.Thanks Again and keep them coming.

hey guys,

I have to agree, that with all the SPS dominated tanks, you would think that softies were EASY or something I have a 20 gallon that is only softies, that is MY FAVORITE of my tanks. its funny how that works out...

ive never tried for TOTM, maybe its time to bug john

One of these days I will take the time to learn how to post a pictire in the thread....until that time please forgive me and visit my web site at
http://communities.msn.com/heavenlyd...k/shoebox.msnw

Having a tank without SPS was not my intention, I guess none have appealed to me.

Enjoy the eye candy.

Thats A real nice looking tank Pathos. I like the mix and really like the cove you built with your rock. The colors are great in the open white sand. Nice job.

Funny how everyone is talking about TOTM and how they are 400+ tanks with 10,000 worth of SPS'. Its time for change!!

We need to find a softie tank for TOTM. Quickly too

I dunno, every totm is huge and IMO too much. I know everyone has a dream of a huge tank, but I think 350 would be my cut off point. Anything larger is just too much.

Current pop: Frogspawn, Torch, Open Brain, Xenia, and Leather corals. Blue Linckia, Two cleaner shrimps, Red Sea Sailfin tang, Yellow tang, two False Perculas and two Neon Gobies.

More pictures on our website. Great thread. Thanks for all those pictures.

I'd like to reccomend that rbaker's 180's soft coral/lps coral(I think there are a few sps corals in there) tank for TOTM....

I must say that that is what I'm trying to do right now....

The best softcoral tank I've ever seen.

Come on Mark, keep that on the low down. Now we are going to have to share our west coast coke supply with the rest of the world!

hey djheywood

checked out your website, good job

how's the clam doing? I have thought about doing this except to a less light loving clam(I've got about the same exact set up as you except for 10gs)

how far away is it from the light

TCOOK,

Thanks for the compliment and hats off to all hobbiest you have shared their own experience and book knowledge to make possible my own success.

My tank is a 125 gallon acrylic ( SeaClear ), Aqua UV, AquaC 180 w/ Sen700, Dual Geo Ca++ reactor fed by minijet 606 and recirculating Eheim 1050?, 4x96 PC ( 10k's and actinic ), 2x4" canopy fans and a small clip fan blowing over sump, little Giant MD3, Neptune controller, RedSea wavemaker running 2x maxijet 1200, Therm 200watt heater. I have over 200lbs. of live rock (fiji and tonga) w/ a 2-3" DSB. Top off w/ Kent's RO 24GPD? and done manually my only regret was not plumbing it in.

Ca++= 460
ALK=12dkh
PH=8.1,8.3 ( morning,night )
Orp=396
Temp.=79.6 ( daytime )

I started this thread to see some tanks built with the corals I love. I was sure I could get what I wanted with soft and LPS corals and you have all confirmed that. Thanks. I am not an anti-sps guy, the tanks winning TOTM are without a doubt a very good representation of all reef keepers in general. I would just like to see a guy who didnt have 30 grand to spend get his just dues. It is hard to pick from so many awesome tanks but so far I must say that cmc5dc's 120 would have a realalistic shot at TOTM. No offense to anyone , they are all nice set-ups and your care and work show in every pic I have seen. Perhaps next week I will set up a poll .
