Fliger - When the new tank gets back I will be calling you for sure.

JHardman - The stand was built by Keith Jackson, and he did an excellent job. And AZ Powdercoaters did the powdercoat. The tank was built by Tenecor who I had heard good and bad about, but after seeing Sidewinder770's tank and they did a great job on his I decided to use them. Unfortunately their acrylic guru quit and god knows who was doing the job on mine. As far as placement of holes and to the specs I wanted they did it perfect except the bottom was supposed to be .75" and they made it .50". It was just a sloppy glue job and the finish work was so-so. I'll let everyone know how the quality of the next one is.

Beutiful! Why is there a dip in the back of the stand? Is that for plubing?

alien9168 - yep, thats for all of the plumbing coming out of the overflow. The 2" drain, 2 - 1" returns and a 1.5" pipe to the OceansMotions 4 way that will be plumbed into the top 4 corners. The bottom 4 holes are the returns for the bottom OceansMotions 4 way and the 2 - 2" holes on the bottom back corners are the drains for the 2 OM closed loops. It will be interesting to see how it all fits under the stand. Wish me luck!

Well after a long break, I got the new tank back and Tenecor did a great job (which I expected the first time) and just to clarify Tenecor said their main acrylic guy didn't leave, just somebody who worked on mine. They took care of the issues I had and I'm happy with the finished product. It should of been done right the first time but they did right the wrong. Now I'm waiting on my sump so I can get some water in this thing, and finish the plumbing. I'll post more pictures soon.

Here's a few pictures of the tank and what little plumbing I've got done so far.

The top plumbing and lights will be hidden once I get the canopy built. I wish I wouldn't of used the 90 degree elbows going into the tank from the OM 4 way, but totally spaced using the long 45 degree fittings. But it probably won't mater with as much flow this thing will have

A close-up of the OM 4 way connected at the bottom of the tank thru a bulkhead and it will be powered by a Sequence Barracuda. The bottom OM 4 way will be using a Sequence Dart. And the return line is a 1.5" line split into 2 - 1" returns fed thru the Wavyseas. Mounted in the back in front of the overflow.

And a crummy picture of the Reef Ceramic 50mm and 40mm Outcroppings I will be using. I also have a 50mm Pilar that will go in the tank as well.

And my old live rock that was seeded with a live piece so hopefully that will help cut down on some of the cycling.

And a picture of the 55 gal drums I got from the lovely people at Coca-Cola, and the Tunze Osmolator that will keep the water levels in check...I hope.

Sweet setup! I would love to aquascape a cube tank, so many possibilities. I got the 30 gallon drums like yours and they never stopped smelling like Dr Pepper on the outside. I cleaned them about 6 times on the inside. The flies all loved it while they sat and cured on the patio.

I can't wait to see how this turns out.

You'll love that osmolator. I just set mine up and it's so precise. I watched it in action the other day and the millisecond the water level hit the sensor, it shut off. Well worth the price.

Thanks for all the comments. I paid $10 for my drums and I believe they are 55 gallons. I can't wait to get the plumbing done, just waiting on the sump. I heard nothing but good things about the Tunze so I'm glad I made a good choice.

aztbs - how did you clean out your drums? I used some baking soda, and now have them sitting with water and bleach.

I filled them with water and bleach first and let them sit for 2 days. Then I filled them with plain fresh water for a day. Then I rinsed them and filled them with water and baking soda for a day. Then I let them sit in the sun to dry out.

The inside was good, but the drum still smells a bit like dr.pepper. So far no adverse effects. It has been on the tank long enough to top off amost the full 30 gallons.

I will definatly be staying with this thread. I am thinking of starting a tank just like this. Can you take some pics with something next to it, so I can get a hieght comparison? I am trying to decide how high I want my cube to be. Thanks!

Great thread BTW, learning lots already!

SM Fragman - Thanks!
binaryterror - I will have my wife take the standard goofy tank nerd (me) in front of the tank picture.
Zoos - From the pictures I saw of yours it looked good.
I'm debating on painting some of the pvc different colors so I can keep track of whats what. And it would look kinda cool too.
