Go to http://www.aquaticsystemsdesign.com/index.php The owner Scott is awesome. He custom builds anything you would like on them. His customer service is outstanding. You won't be disappointed with going with an ASD skimmer.

Sorry I've been away from this thread for a bit. Kinda got side tracked away from Calc reactors while I was dealing with other stuff.

Thanks all for your feed back.

hahnmeister the link you posted didn't work. Yes I know it had a (,) at the end and I removed it and it still didn't work.

Sorry I'm new to calc reactors. So I can use a controller and skip a regulator? What exactly are the features/benefits of a controller and do you have one you can recommend that won't cost me a fortune?

No, you have to have a regulator. The bottles are pressurized, mine has almost 1000 psi when full. The regulator will drop that pressure down to a usable level...20psi or lower. I personally use an American Marine pinpoint PH controller with mine. With a controller you can "set it and forget it". It maintains the PH levels in the reactor. The output flow can be adjusted to where you want and the controller will keep your desired PH. It acts like a safety feature so the CO2 doesn't go crazy. I find it harder to maintain a constant PH level withouy one.

ok I think I got confused along the way. So let me back track a bit.

To set up a calcium reactor you need:

calcium reactor wiht media etc.
C02 tank
regulator
and a controller is optional but recommended

I may look in to getting a Korallin or a Geo since these seem to be similar and popular choices. Are there any cheaper alternatives that work just as well? I like the whole set it and forget it idea.

Don't forget the soleinoid. It's what actually cuts the gas flow on and off and plugs into the controller.

Hahnmeister, I just wanted to say thanks. I have been struggling to find a good idiot-proof calcium reactor and the way you explained the Korallin made the decision much easier. I have to buy 2 for my pair of 90 gal tanks and the purchase has no room for a ph controller for each one if I can avoid it.

I hope you got the K2R.

The K2R is a good reactor and If you have some locally then get them.

There are very few BAD reactors out there.

The so called package deals are not always good. So be careful.

You want to get a good reagulator and a good needle valve. A CO2 tank can be rented, since most welding / beverage places will swap out tanks rather than fill them. So don't go crazy trying to buy the best looking CO2 tank. since you might be swaping it out with an older looking one.
