I don't want to be a spoiler, but have patience everyone.
Altezza has provided the solution and soon it will be ready in a link with full instructions for everyone to use.

Well, it seems to have worked for me as well. It stopped the spreading of the pox. I have them all still in the q-tank with only 1 treatment.

Thanks to everyone for the help. Hopefully i will be able to move them back to the main tank soon!

Wow, this is all unfolding before my eyes, and it's not just some old thread from a year ago, it's current. Great, because my zoas have this problem too.

I have a small tank and small colonies so I really risk losing them all in a hurry. In fact, I've lost 4 morphs so far, and one other is definitely affected, with two others iffy.

I tried dipping some in a hydrogen peroxide solution with no real effect except it stressed out the zoa's. I may have been too aggressive with it though, and those were the initial ones, so they were probably already pretty weak from lack of action on my part (I let them be, hoping it would go away on its own... bad idea in this case, for me at least).

I have recently tried lugol's. Again, much stress and little if any effect on the disease.

Today I tried dipping in tetrocycline. I'm hoping for at least a little progress from it. If I don't see anything I'll try the Furan dip. I'll update this thread as I get results.

This was all such a shock as Zoa's had a reputation to be so hardy and relatively easy, yet I'm having these issues with them while my SPS grows like crazy ;-) I guess I shouldn't complain, but to be honest I liked the zoa's better!

I would suggest you to skip the Tetrocylcline dip and go straight to the Furan dip. It really works.

Very soon everyone, very soon.
We're all very excited to finish the info to share with all of you.

Thank you again Altezza, you have done a really good thing!

I will post it here and in the main zoanthid forum as soon as Whod is done polishing it up for the site!

Alt, I just want to say...
It's kinda nice that this thread is now going off track. It means the Pox is now a thing of the past.
Thanks again Alt.

I've been following this thread from the very beginning--just in case. Well, now a fantastic large colony of Green meanies is really infested w/the pustules. I did the 1st dip today. I'll take a pictoral of the whole process & post when they're looking like themselves again. *fingers crossed*

How contageous is this? When I pulled the colony off (they weren't attached yte, thank God), they squirted some grey cloudy gunk. Most of my zoas are growing on huge rocks. I'd have no idea how to dip them. Probably'd have to chisel them off.

Well, so far, not so good. I took them out for a 2nd dip & they smelled like DEATH! I took a soft toothbrush & brushed off all the dead, smelly tissue & dipped again.

Before 2nd dip (after brushing off the dead stuff):

Poor things... I forgot how beautiful this colony was, till the guy I bought them from sent me pics:

Now I'm really sad...
