Try having a local cabinet-maker take a look at it. They can often match something pretty well. On top of that, a good craftsman will be near the price with a much nicer end product.

I have seen a few tanks around here that folks have had custom cabinets made for and wow, every one of them beats the oceanic/all glass stuff on their best day.

Well I already have the stand, so has anyone seen or can I expect that a cabinet-maker come close to matching the knock off stainless steel look of the cabinet?

Looks like oceanic has finally updated their webiste:

Oceanic

The descriptions show both the Tech series and Ultimate series as having Starfire fronts. I think they have simply just changed the product to have the front only in starfire.

Yes, but you may have to cut a hole to accommodate your overflow since the tech aquarium overflow is centered and the AGA 90 is to the left of center.

I used a ASM G4 skimmer and I was very happy with it. I had a very high fish load and kept SPS corals that did very well also. If you have the money go for a deltec, doesn't get better then that. I have a AP1003 on my current tank and the quality of the deltec product is unsurpassed, but the G4 does a very good job as well at a fraction of the cost. Good luck!

I'm still trying to decide on a skimmer myself.....I'm still leaning toward the H & S 200-1260

Definitely take a look at H&S skimmers. I have one and it's the best skimmer I've owned to date for the money spent as it isn't really outrageous in price. Then the new Bubblemaster have very small footprints. I just bought one and still haven't setup yet. I'm still waiting for my work travels to settle down so that I can decide whether I want to invest in a 90g tech and switchover my 75g.

BTW, I have a H&S A150 on a 180g fish only tank.

it isn't recommended to place anything under the glass. It was made to sit on the plastic trim.

Almost ready for water..

I installed a hard line from my pipes into the ro unit, installed a dedicated 20 amp plug, and ran a 220 plug from my garage into the electrical box to run a generator when needed. last winter this city lost power for a week! I aslo got a 55 gal drum from us plastics. I will post pics when the tank is filled.

question; My 120 is very very slightly unlevel, almost unmeasurable on the leveler. The trim on the bottom, is just so slightly uneven. Worth worrying about?

Hi,
How much did you guys pay for your Tech 120? I went to my LFS today, and they quoted me about $960 just for the tank. Is this right? I inquired about the stand and the guy told me their is no specific stand for the tech series, and that I just have to buy a regular 120g stand. Any help appreciated.

Thx,
John

Here is a website that lists their prices on Tech tanks (down the page a bit). http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/Glas...iumListing.web

It lists the 120 Tech Tank at around $700, so $960 is quite a mark-up (I imagine that the $700 is already a mark-up from what That Pet Place buys them). I don't know from where they are shipped, but that could explain some of the higher price. The stand is listed at $450. IMO the stand is one of the nicest features of the Tech series. It's nice and tall and easily accessible.
